What should I do if my throat hurts, itches and I cough?

If your throat is sore, itchy and you are coughing, and you want to solve the problem effectively, you should first pay attention to understanding the cause so that you can know which treatment method to choose. At the same time, you should pay attention to strengthening your physical fitness, try to quit smoking and drinking, and improve your work and living environment.

1. Eliminate various pathogenic factors and enhance physical fitness, including quitting smoking and drinking, improving the working environment, and actively treating chronic inflammation of the nose and nasopharynx.

2. Traditional Chinese Medicine: Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that chronic pharyngitis is caused by yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire, which causes the throat to be malnourished due to the upward disturbance of virtual fire. The treatment should be to nourish yin and reduce fire, with Zengye Decoction added or subtracted. You can also use appropriate amounts of double flower and Ophiopogon japonicus, add 2 pieces of Sterculia lychnophora, and brew it with boiling water instead of tea.

3. Local therapy: (1) Simple pharyngitis: Frequent gargling with compound borax solution, furacillin solution, 2% boric acid solution, etc., or taking iodine throat lozenges, mint throat lozenges, Liushen pills, etc., can alleviate symptoms. (2) Hypertrophic pharyngitis: In addition to the above-mentioned treatments, drugs (silver nitrate) or electrocoagulation can be used to burn the proliferating lymph follicles, but the burning range should not be too wide. Cryotherapy and laser treatment are also available.

4. Onion honey can treat itchy throat and cough. Cut the onion into small slices, put it into the bottle, and add appropriate amount of honey. After leaving it for 12 hours, take one spoonful each time, 4 to 6 times a day to relieve the symptoms of itchy throat and dry cough. At the same time, white radish tea is also good. Take an appropriate amount of white radish and green tea leaves, boil them in water and drink them. Taking two doses a day can help clear away heat and resolve phlegm, relieve cough and moisten the throat.

5. If you have pharyngitis for a long time, massage is recommended for treatment: every morning after getting up, apply 3 to 4 drops of medicated oil on the palm of your left hand. You don’t need to apply so much, just a few drops will do. Massage (clockwise) the throat area 20 to 30 times. After 2-3 months, this time period is not unique, it depends on the actual situation. Some people may get better faster, the condition can be greatly improved, and basically recovered after a year.
