Will it be good to eat too much vitamin C?

We all know that to maintain a healthy body, we need to supplement some VC appropriately. VC can make our body healthier. Supplementing the right amount of VC can also make our skin whiter and whiter. Especially when we have a cold, appropriate supplementation of VC can also make our cold heal faster. However, many friends have this question: is it good to eat too much VC? Let us now give you an explanation on this issue.

1. It is recommended to take it twice a day: because VC is a water-soluble vitamin, generally speaking, it will be excreted with body fluids within 3-4 hours. Repeating supplementation at intervals of 3-4 hours can ensure the VC content in the body and the absorption effect will be better.

2. Eat after breakfast or lunch: Everyone knows that fruit is "gold if eaten in the morning and silver if eaten at noon", the same goes for VC, especially some VC products extracted from natural fruits, which must be eaten at breakfast or lunch to achieve the best effect.

3. Take 100 mg per day: VC should not be taken in excess for a long time, as it can easily cause oxalic acid or uric acid stones. However, if you are taking it from a maintenance perspective, it is recommended to take about 100 mg per day, which is safe and effective and will not cause so-called side effects.

If you take too much vitamin C, the side effects are quite serious. Studies have shown that when the daily dose of vitamin C is 1 to 4 grams, it will cause various adverse reactions: if the dose exceeds 5 grams, hemolysis will occur, and it may even be life-threatening. If pregnant women take large amounts, they may experience miscarriage or stillbirth. Excessive intake of vitamin C can also cause the following side effects:

1. Vitamin C is an acidic substance. Taking it in large quantities can cause the pH value of urine to decrease, and the oxalate and urate in urine to increase significantly, which can easily lead to the formation of kidney stones.

2. Vitamin C can promote intestinal motility. Taking large doses can cause diarrhea, excessive stomach acid, gastric reflux, etc.

3. Intravenous injection of large doses of vitamin C can cause venous thrombosis, resulting in hemolysis or coagulation in blood vessels, which can be life-threatening in severe cases. Injection may also cause allergies, local pain or tissue necrosis.

Although VC is very beneficial to our body, no matter how good something is, we must be careful not to use it in excessive amounts. Too much can also cause certain harm to our body. As introduced above, if we take too much vitamin C, it will cause some discomfort in our stomach and intestines. For the health of the body, we must take VC in moderation.
