Tonsillitis is a very common disease in ENT. The incidence of this disease is relatively high when the seasons change and the temperature changes. Acute tonsillitis must be treated in time. If it is not treated in time, it is easy to develop into chronic tonsillitis. The incidence of tonsillitis in children is generally much higher than that in adults. So what acupoints should be pressed for tonsillitis?

Which acupuncture points should be pressed for tonsillitis?

1. Jiexi Point: It is an acupuncture point on the stomach meridian, located in the central depression of the transverse line at the junction of the dorsum of the foot and the calf, between the tendons of the extensor hallucis longus and the extensor digitorum longus. Pressing this point can remove heat and reduce swelling. It is often used to treat swelling of the tonsils and throat and eliminate stomach heat.

2. Hegu Point: It belongs to the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, which is the base of the thumb, between the 1st and 2nd metacarpal bones on the back of the hand, at the midpoint of the radial side of the second metacarpal bone or with the transverse line of the thumb joint of one hand, placed on the webbing edge between the thumb and index finger of the other hand, the point is under the tip of the thumb. It can treat sore throat.

3. Lieque Point: An acupuncture point on the hand Taiyin Lung Meridian, located on the inner side of the wrist, just below the thumb, where you can feel the pulse beating. Cross your hands naturally with the knuckles straight, press the index finger of one hand on the radial styloid process of the other hand. The acupoint is in the depression below the fingertips. It has the effects of dispelling wind and relieving exterior symptoms, promoting lung function and regulating qi, relieving sore throat and reducing swelling, and has a therapeutic effect on tonsillitis.

4. Yuji Point: Belongs to the Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian, located in the depression behind the first metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb, approximately on the radial side of the midpoint of the first metacarpal bone, at the junction of the red and white flesh. It can clear away heat and reduce fire, and has a good effect on sore throat, tonsillitis, etc.

5. Use the tip of your thumb to push and rub the tonsil reflex area towards the nail for 1 to 2 minutes until you feel soreness and swelling. Regular massage of this reflex area can effectively treat tonsillitis.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the principles of treatment are to clear away heat and detoxify, relieve sore throat and swelling, and enhance immunity. In addition to the above-mentioned acupoints, Tiantu, Dazhui, Shaoshang, Quchi, Yongquan, etc. all have the function of treating or assisting in the treatment of tonsillitis. We need to remind everyone that acupoint massage requires a certain level of professionalism, and it is recommended to seek professional assistance to achieve better therapeutic effects.

How to relieve tonsillitis

1. Pulling the earlobe

Children with poor immunity, lung heat, and those who are prone to getting angry should pay attention to prevention. When they have nothing to do, they should pull their earlobes more often, because the earlobes are the tonsil reflex area in auricular therapy. In addition to usual prevention, you should start pulling your earlobes for 10 minutes every day before the symptoms of tonsillitis appear (when you feel something is wrong with your throat).

2. Massage your fingers

There is also a tonsil reflex area on the hand, between the thumb joints. It is also very convenient to massage your fingers, and you can rub more anytime and anywhere. When you massage yourself, you can press your left hand with your right hand and your right hand with your left hand.

3. Massage your toes

There are also tonsil reflex areas on the feet, as well as reflex areas of other organs. Since the foot reflexes are more sensitive, to prevent and treat tonsillitis, you can focus on massaging the tonsil reflex areas on the feet.
