Why do I feel sore all over after doing yoga?

Yoga is actually very good for your health and well-being. For women, regular yoga practice is also very beneficial to their figure. However, women will experience some adverse reactions after practicing yoga, such as body aches, etc. This phenomenon is related to many factors, and the aspects to consider are also quite complicated, so you must pay attention to examination and treatment. So why do you feel sore all over after practicing yoga?

1. Lactic acid accumulation

Lactic acid is formed due to the anaerobic metabolism of the body's energy produced by exercise that exceeds the usual intensity. When the lactic acid produced by human exercise is greater than the body's own consumption, lactic acid will accumulate in the body and cause local muscle soreness. (This type of soreness usually occurs during or immediately after exercise)

2. Delayed onset muscle soreness

After a yoga class, you will only feel soreness the next day, which lasts for about a week before disappearing. This soreness is caused by the fact that during yoga practice, the contraction and extension of muscles are greater than in daily life, causing tiny tears and damage to muscle fibers, and then inflammation and soreness. (This kind of soreness is not an injury, there is a clear difference between muscle soreness and strain). In fact, this kind of muscle soreness is a normal and positive physiological phenomenon. It is a process of allowing muscles and body functions to adapt to the intensity of exercise and gradually enhance muscle strength and endurance.

3. Others

It's not just yoga. People who don't exercise much will experience obvious muscle soreness and discomfort when they try any new sport. These symptoms will disappear naturally after a period of rest. When we return to the same yoga practice or sports program, this muscle soreness will be significantly reduced or even disappear. In addition, yoga classes with high fluidity, such as flow yoga, Ashtanga, hot yoga, etc., will consume a lot of water from the human body. Fifteen minutes after class, appropriate water replenishment can promote body metabolism, accelerate muscle recovery, and reduce fatigue.
