What is nerve block therapy

What is nerve block therapy

At present, medicine is becoming more and more developed, and there are many treatment methods that did not exist before. This has a good therapeutic purpose for some difficult and complicated diseases. For example, nerve block, this treatment method some people have never heard of, is actually can achieve the effect of analgesia, but it is much better than the general blockade treatment, this is mainly because blockade treatment will cause many side effects and sequelae, and this treatment method is relatively safer and healthier, will not cause further harm to the patient's body, and can also be treated according to the specific nerves of the patient's pain, so the treatment will be more targeted and not blind.

Specific method:

The so-called "injection" to treat migraine is called nerve block in pain treatment. Simply put, the doctor first finds the nerve that causes the patient's headache, and then "injects" it nearby, injecting some anti-inflammatory analgesics or drugs to improve blood circulation, so as to achieve the purpose of treating the headache. In actual operation, nerve block has very high technical requirements, and the accuracy of the injection position determines the effectiveness of the treatment.

Nerve blocks are not the same as blockade. Blockade therapy is a method of treating pain that evolved from local anesthesia. It involves injecting local anesthetics or hormone drugs into the area of pain in the patient to achieve the purpose of anti-inflammatory and analgesia. In other words, it is an injection where it hurts, to "seal up" the pain, and it mainly solves the "symptoms". Nerve block is a method of injecting anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs directly into the affected nerves. It addresses the root cause of the pain, not just the symptoms themselves, so it is different from "blocked treatment."

The biggest advantage of nerve block therapy is that it has a strong therapeutic effect and relatively few side effects. Taking oral medication as an example, after the drug is absorbed into the blood through the stomach, there is no difference in its distribution in various tissues throughout the body. Originally, the drug only needed to take effect in the blood vessels in the brain, but now it has also entered the liver, kidneys and spleen, while the dose of the drug that reaches the part that actually needs treatment is very small. For nerve block, the drug can be injected around the required nerves and blood vessels to take effect directly. The dosage is only one percent or even one thousandth of the oral medication dose. This can effectively improve the therapeutic effect and greatly reduce the toxic side effects of drugs on the human body.
