Endometrial cancer is a gynecological disease that we are familiar with. After contracting the disease, it has a particularly serious impact on the patient, especially posing a serious threat to the patient's life safety. We must pay attention to timely treatment. Let's take a look at it together!

Can endometrial cancer be cured?

The occurrence of endometrial cancer is directly related to the continuous effect of estrogen. Long-term anovulation is the main risk factor for endometrial cancer. Estrogen can cause excessive proliferation of the endometrium, even atypical hyperplasia, and then endometrial cancer. The chance of atypical hyperplasia becoming cancer is about 10-25%. The risk of endometrial cancer in infertile, overweight and menopausal women later than 52 years old is 5 times that of fertile, normal weight and menopausal women before 49 years old.

Endometrial cancer can occur at any age, but it is basically a tumor of elderly women. According to the American Cancer Registry, the peak age of the disease is 58 to 61 years old. Various types of uterine bleeding are the most prominent symptoms of this disease. About 50 to 70% of patients develop the disease after menopause, while those who are not menopausal will experience irregular bleeding or increased menstrual flow and prolonged menstruation. Therefore, irregular vaginal bleeding in middle-aged and elderly women may be a sign of endometrial cancer and should be highly vigilant. Young patients should not take it lightly either.

Endometrial cancer survival rates

1. For patients with early endometrial cancer: It mainly depends on whether appropriate treatment is taken in time. Generally speaking, early endometrial cancer tumors are small and have not spread or metastasized. The most effective treatment is surgical resection. The 5-year survival rate after resection of early endometrial cancer can reach 60%-90%. After surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine and other treatments can be used within a certain period of time to prevent recurrence.

2. For patients with mid- to late-stage endometrial cancer: It mainly depends on whether the treatment method is appropriate and the patient's physical condition. The treatment methods for mid- to late-stage endometrial cancer mainly include radiotherapy, chemotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine. 70% of patients with mid- to late-stage endometrial cancer have their symptoms alleviated after radiotherapy. External radiotherapy with different doses and fractions can relieve local symptoms of primary or metastatic lesions. However, since radiotherapy can also cause damage to normal cells, radiotherapy should be used with caution for patients with mid- to late-stage endometrial cancer who have very weak physical functions.
