How long can you live if colorectal cancer spreads

How long can you live if colorectal cancer spreads

In recent years, more and more people around me have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Although this is closely related to eating habits, some related examinations are often neglected during physical examinations, such as fecal occult blood, rectal examination, colonoscopy, etc., and the symptoms of blood in the stool are not taken seriously enough, resulting in more and more colorectal cancer patients being diagnosed at an advanced stage and having a shorter survival period after surgery. So, what is the mortality rate of colorectal cancer?

Fecal occult blood test is a very convenient test method that can be performed in any medical unit or physical examination center. If the test result is positive, the possibility of colorectal cancer should be highly suspected, and colonoscopy and rectal examination should be performed immediately to confirm whether it is enteritis, intestinal polyps or colorectal cancer. Especially the elderly should consider doing this test during physical examinations. In addition, please do not eat lean meat before doing a fecal occult blood test to avoid false positive test results and delay diagnosis and treatment.

The different incidence and mortality rates of colorectal cancer are caused by factors such as regional environment and dietary structure. my country's vegetarian diet is more conducive to the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer than Western food such as hamburgers, French fries, and grilled steaks. But strangely, the average age of onset of colorectal cancer in the United States is 65 years old, while in my country it is 50-55 years old, more than ten years earlier; the early detection rate of colorectal cancer in Europe is 70%, while in my country, colorectal cancer patients are basically in the middle and late stages once they are discovered, which leads to a high mortality rate of colorectal cancer.

Having colorectal cancer does not mean death. As long as it can be detected early and effective and reasonable treatment plans are adopted, cancer can be effectively controlled. Cancer patients should treat the disease with a good attitude and receive regular treatment as soon as possible. The life expectancy after colorectal cancer surgery varies from person to person. Currently, biological immunotherapy can be combined to treat mid- and late-stage cancers of the liver, lungs, stomach, esophagus, cardia, pancreas, breast, uterus, ovaries, nasopharynx, brain, intestines, etc. Since the introduction of this therapy, major breakthroughs have been made, giving hope of recovery to the majority of patients suffering from cancer.
