The importance of teachers' mental health

The importance of teachers' mental health

Teaching is a sacred profession because teachers bear the important function of teaching and educating people. In the process of teaching, teachers not only allow students to learn professional knowledge, but also constantly improve and learn themselves. However, there are many things to be observed before becoming a teacher. Not everyone can be a teacher. One of the hurdles is to test the teacher's mental health. So how important is the teacher's mental health?

1. Good for physical health

Mental health is closely related to physical health. On the one hand, a person's physical health level will affect his or her mental health level. Physical diseases and physiological defects can have a negative impact on people's psychological characteristics and mental state, causing them to have negative emotions such as anxiety, sorrow, worry, depression, etc., affecting their emotions, will, personality, and even the harmony of their interpersonal relationships. On the other hand, mental health level also affects physical health level. Only a healthy mind can cultivate a healthy body. For example, an optimistic, happy, confident, and peaceful attitude can help improve a person's immunity, enabling him or her to effectively resist the invasion of disease, thereby promoting physical health. Psychological unhealthiness, such as long-term excessive anxiety, worry, worry, depression, and anger, can lead to physiological abnormalities or paths and trigger psychosomatic diseases. Psychosomatic disease is a disease in which psychological factors account for a large proportion of the cause of the disease, or in other words, it is a physical disease that is mainly caused by psychosocial factors, is related to emotions and presents physical symptoms. Man is an organic whole with a close integration of physiology and psychology, and the spirit and body play a role together in the same life process. Organ systems that are closely linked to emotions and controlled by the autonomic nervous system are more susceptible to this disease.

2. It is conducive to improving work efficiency

Teachers with a high level of mental health will enable them to function normally in terms of intelligence, emotion, will, etc., thus helping to improve work efficiency. Mentally healthy people can objectively evaluate and respond to the objective environment with ease, and the relationship between their psychological tendencies and behaviors and the requirements of social reality is basically coordinated. If an individual can achieve a positive balance with the environment, he or she will be able to deal with conflicts and problems with the correct attitude and method. He or she will also be able to deal with setbacks in life with a calm mind and will generally not lose confidence due to occasional failures. His or her work and study efficiency will inevitably be better than that of mentally unhealthy people.

3. It is conducive to the healthy development of students' psychology

Teachers' mental health problems are not just personal matters, they also affect students' mental health levels.

Teachers are important figures in the minds of students and are role models that students identify with. They can play the most subtle role in the daily interactions between teachers and students. Moreover, mentally healthy teachers can influence students through the teaching process, so that students' psychology can also develop healthily.

If a teacher is mentally unhealthy, he or she will not be able to correctly understand students' behavior, let alone deal with student problems skillfully. At the very least, it will affect the relationship between teachers and students, and at worst it may hurt students' hearts. Therefore, in order to better educate students, teachers themselves must first be mentally healthy people.
