T3 high

T3 high

Thyroid function test is a very common examination method in people's lives. Its main purpose is to check whether the human body has hyperthyroidism. Many people will have high thyroid function T3 during thyroid function test. When this happens, it is mostly because there are some problems with people's thyroid function, which requires people to pay special attention. The following is a detailed introduction to what is going on with high thyroid function T3.

1. T3 and T4 (i.e. triiodothyronine TT3 and tetraiodothyronine TT4): They are the products of thyroid hormone synthesis and are brothers. T4 has one more iodine group than T3. Abnormal results of these two tests indicate abnormal thyroid function, but they are often not directly related to clinical manifestations, so there is no need to worry too much about abnormal T3 and T4 results.

2. FT3 and FT4 (free T3 and free T4): Free T4 is the most important hormone for thyroid function. Its abnormality is often directly related to hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. Hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism can be directly diagnosed based on the high or low results of FT4. Therefore, although FT4 only accounts for a small proportion of T4, its role is very important and it is the most important factor in determining the results of thyroid function. FT3 is a good brother of FT4, and it works together with its brother FT4 to produce thyroid hormones. Depending on whether the FT3 and FT4 results are high or low, it can be directly determined whether it is hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism.

3. Thyrotropin (TSH): The biggest characteristic of TSH is that it is opposite to FT3 and FT4, that is, the higher the FT3/FT4, the lower the TSH. TSH is a marker of thyroid function. A low TSH level indicates that hyperthyroidism is about to occur, while a high TSH level indicates that hypothyroidism is about to occur.

4. Thyroglobulin (Tg): an indicator of thyroid synthesis function and thyroid volume. Benign diseases have no special significance; for patients with thyroid cancer, if they have undergone total thyroidectomy, the Tg level reflects whether there is recurrence, that is, the amount of thyroid-derived tissue. If Tg is lower than 1, or the dynamic changes do not increase, it does not indicate recurrence.
