What are the symptoms of spleen tumor

The spleen is a very important organ that affects our physical health. Many people are in a bad mood, which can cause great damage to the spleen. If spleen cells are damaged, cancer may occur in severe cases. Tumors are likely to grow in the spleen. Some people suffer a direct deterioration in their health or even a threat to their lives due to tumors in the spleen. So, what are the symptoms of spleen tumors?

1. Clinical symptoms

1. Splenomegaly is mostly accompanied by discomfort, pain and compression symptoms in the left upper abdomen, such as abdominal distension, nausea, constipation, and difficulty breathing.

2. Hypersplenism is related to splenomegaly, but the symptoms are not proportional to the degree of splenomegaly. For unexplained hypersplenism with splenomegaly, the presence of tumors, especially hemangiomas, should be highly suspected.

3. Systemic symptoms are common in malignant tumors of the spleen, manifested as low fever, anemia, fatigue, general discomfort, weight loss, cachexia, etc.

4. Spontaneous rupture of splenic tumor is rare in clinical practice, and manifests as sudden abdominal pain and peritonitis, which may lead to hemorrhagic shock or even death. If the spleen ruptures and is accompanied by early metastasis, it is the worst factor affecting the prognosis. Spontaneous splenic rupture may be secondary to hemophagocytic syndrome, hemangiopericytoma, multiple hemangiomas of the serosa, T-cell leukemia, etc. Some of them may be accompanied by abdominal implantation metastasis, which is more common in spontaneous rupture of splenic hemangioma and angiosarcoma.

2. Disease Classification

The classification of splenic tumors is relatively complex and can be divided into the following four types based on the source of tissue components: (1) Tumor-like lesions: including non-parasitic cysts and hamartomas. (2) Vascular tumors: divided into benign and malignant. (3) Lymphomas: Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's disease, and lymphomatous lesions. (4) Non-lymphoid tumors: including lipoma, malignant fibroblastoma, malignant teratoma, etc. (5) Tumor-like lesions: such as traumatic cystic pseudotumor, inflammatory pseudotumor, etc. Splenic tumors are more likely to be benign than malignant. Among benign tumors, splenic cysts are the most common, while among malignant tumors, malignant lymphomas are the most common.

Splenic tumors are classified into the following categories based on their origin: (1) Vascular origin. (2) Lymphoid tissue origin. (3) Source of embryonic tissue. (4) Neural tissue origin. (5) Other mesenchymal tissue sources: such as fibrous tissue, adipose tissue and smooth muscle tissue.
