Symptoms of fungal esophagitis

Fungal esophagitis is a special type of esophagitis. The main cause is that white Candida invades our esophagus to form an ulcerative pseudomembranous infection. It is an infectious disease. If this disease cannot be discovered and treated in time, it will be very harmful to our health. In order to let everyone know more about this disease, let’s take a look at the symptoms of suffering from this disease.

1. Symptoms of esophagitis

A burning sensation occurs: First, there is an obvious burning sensation behind the sternum, accompanied by pain. Because of esophagitis, bile will flow back out, which will cause a burning sensation. This situation may occur one hour after eating, and also when you are semi-lying down after strenuous exercise. Eating too sour or too hot food will make the condition worse.

Dysphagia: Swallowing food may be painful or difficult. When the disease first occurs, there will be intermittent difficulty in swallowing. If the condition is severe, the esophagus may become narrow due to scarring, and we may have difficulty swallowing hard or large foods. Generally, the occurrence of this symptom will reduce the burning sensation and directly lead to difficulty in swallowing, which is also one of the characteristics that reveal the severity of the disease.

Acid reflux: Acid reflux can occur due to esophagitis. After acid reflux occurs, there will be a burning sensation behind the sternum, which usually occurs in pairs. Symptoms of heartburn occur first, followed by burning and pain. After we eat, acid may reflux from the esophagus or stomach into our mouth, or be swallowed.

Heartburn: When you feel "heartburn" or "heart pain", or have obvious pain behind the sternum when drinking hot water or eating spicy food, these are symptoms of esophagitis. There is also a feeling of choking when swallowing food, which is caused by esophageal edema, narrowing of the esophagus, or spasmodic contraction of the esophageal wall due to inflammatory stimulation.

Bleeding: In addition, symptoms of esophageal bleeding may also occur, which is a more serious manifestation. We must detect and treat the disease early to reduce the possibility of worsening of the disease.

2. How to take care of esophagitis

Keep warm and nourish. After entering autumn, the temperature difference between day and night begins to change greatly. Therefore, people with chronic gastritis should pay special attention to keeping the stomach warm, add clothes in time, and cover themselves with quilts at night to prevent the abdomen from catching cold and causing stomach pain or aggravating old illness.

Diet adjustment. The autumn diet for patients with stomach problems should be warm, soft, light, vegetarian and fresh. They should eat small meals at regular times and in fixed quantities so that there is always food in the stomach to neutralize gastric acid, thereby preventing erosion of the gastric mucosa and ulcer surface, aggravating the condition and even reflux into the esophagus.

Avoid oral maintenance. Patients with stomach problems must avoid eating foods that are too cold, too hot, too hard, too spicy, or too sticky as they are difficult to digest, so they should not eat these difficult-to-digest foods. Avoid overeating, smoking and drinking. In addition, in order to protect the gastric mucosa from irritation, you should pay attention to the oral method when taking the medicine, preferably after meals. Keep calm and rest. After research by relevant experts, it was found that people's emotions and mentality are closely related to the occurrence and development of stomach diseases, duodenal ulcers and other diseases. Therefore, we must pay attention to mental hygiene, maintain a happy spirit and stable emotions, and avoid the stimulation of negative emotions such as tension, anxiety, and anger. At the same time, pay attention to the combination of work and rest to prevent excessive fatigue from affecting the recovery of stomach problems.

Exercise and health. Patients should take their own physical conditions into consideration and moderately strengthen their exercise to enhance gastrointestinal motility, improve the body's disease resistance, reduce the recurrence of the disease, and promote physical and mental health.

3. What adverse symptoms does esophagitis cause?

ulcer

The incidence of esophageal ulcers is 2% to 54%. Ulcers may occur after the esophageal columnar epithelium is corroded by acidic digestive juices, and symptoms similar to gastric ulcers may appear. The pain may radiate to the back and may cause perforation, bleeding, infiltration, stenosis after the ulcer heals, and symptoms of difficulty swallowing. It can even penetrate the aorta and cause massive bleeding and rapid death.

Cancer

The incidence of esophageal cancer is not very accurate, and long-term reflux into the esophagus may cause malignant transformation. However, some studies have shown that anti-reflux surgery in patients with esophageal disease cannot cause the columnar epithelium to regress, nor reduce the risk of malignant transformation.

Gastrointestinal bleeding

It may manifest as vomiting blood or bloody stool, accompanied by iron deficiency anemia, with an incidence of about 45%. The source of bleeding is esophagitis and esophageal ulcer.
