Why is it easy to get angry after quitting smoking

After quitting smoking, the main organs of the human body will undergo great changes, including the respiratory system, circulatory system, nervous system, etc. These will all be improved. Therefore, some people will have many uncomfortable symptoms in a short period of time after quitting smoking, such as always feeling dry in the mouth due to getting a sore throat and wanting to eat something. These require a long period of adaptation and a process of slowly being tested.

Changes in the incidence of major organs in the human body after quitting smoking

1. Respiratory system: The relative risk of lung cancer for smokers is 10-15 times that of non-smokers. Ten years after a smoker quits smoking, his risk of lung cancer will be 30%-50% of that of a continuous smoker. Quitting smoking can also reduce the risk of pneumonia and bronchitis. Smoking is the main cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). After quitting smoking, the rate of lung function decline with age will approach that of non-smokers.

2. Circulatory system: Smokers are twice as likely to die from coronary heart disease as non-smokers. Within one year after smokers quit smoking, this risk will be reduced by 50%. After 15 years of quitting smoking, the risk will be close to that of a never-smoker.

3. Nervous system: Compared with non-smokers, smokers have twice the relative risk of dying from stroke. Some smokers can reduce this risk to the level of non-smokers within 5 years after quitting, while some people need to persist for 15 years to achieve this effect. In addition, quitting smoking can improve cerebral blood flow.

4. Smoking during pregnancy: The fetal and infant mortality rate increases by 250%, and the average birth weight of the baby is 200 grams lower than normal. If they can quit smoking before pregnancy, the weight of their babies will be basically the same as that of babies born to mothers who have never smoked.

5. It will not affect weight: Some people worry that they will gain weight, but a large number of studies have shown that the average weight gain of smokers who quit smoking is only 2.3 kilograms. This amount of weight gain has almost no impact on health. Of course, there are a few people who gain a lot of weight (more than 9 kg) after quitting smoking, but the probability of this happening after quitting smoking is only 4%.
