How to clean crabs more cleanly

How to clean crabs more cleanly

Crabs are a frequent visitor on our dining table. Many people like to eat crabs, mainly because of their delicious meat and secondly because of their nutritional value. But anyone who has cooked crabs knows that, although crabs are delicious, they are very time-consuming and troublesome to clean. So is there any simple and clear way to clean crabs in a quick time? Then you can try the following method.

1. Soak in light salt water.

After buying the crabs home, first rinse off the dirt on the surface of the crabs, and then soak them in light salt water for a period of time. The concentration of the salt water should be such that it tastes slightly salty. The purpose of soaking crabs in light salt water is to make them vomit out the dirt in their stomachs, so the water should be changed several times during the soaking period until the water vomited by the crabs becomes clear.

Methods and steps for washing crabs at home, how to wash crabs cleanly

2. Wash the crabs.

When the water spit out by the crab is no longer turbid, you can start scrubbing it. This step requires courage and a certain amount of skill. Be careful to prevent your fingers from being pinched by the crab's claws. You can pinch the left and right sides of the crab firmly with your thumb and middle finger, with the shell facing upwards. Practice has proved that this method of grasping is the safest and will definitely not cause you to get pinched.

After catching the crab, hold it under the faucet and turn on a thin stream of water. Then you can scrub the crab with a toothbrush, rinsing it as you brush. You need to use force when brushing, especially the crab hair part, because crab hair is the dirtiest.

The specific steps and methods for scrubbing crabs are as follows:

1. First, brush the sides, back, abdomen and mouth of the crab, then brush the base of its feet and claws.

2. The next step is to clean the belly cover. This step is very important because there is a lot of dirt and crab excrement in the belly cover. Before cleaning the abdominal cover, you must hold the crab's claws firmly to prevent it from being pinched. Then you can open the belly cover, squeeze out the excrement first, then brush away the dirt inside the belly cover, and finally brush the crab claws clean.

After cleaning the crabs, throw them into a basin of clean water, rinse them together and they can be used for cooking.

The method and steps for washing crabs at home are actually so simple, but for those who are less courageous, this can be considered an impossible task. In order to take care of the timid friends, here is a method of washing crabs at home suitable for timid friends:

1. White wine drunk crab method:

Put the crab in a basin, pour in an appropriate amount of clean water, then add a small amount of white wine and mix evenly. The crab will get drunk and become unconscious after drinking the water containing white wine, and will not have the strength to pinch you no matter how you manipulate it. If you're still not too confident, you can take out the drunk crab and stun it with the back of a spatula. This is foolproof and you can brush it however you want.

2. Warm water crab method:

Put the crab belly up in warm water at about 45 degrees. When it turns over, it will be scalded by the warm water. You can wash it with confidence without getting your hands pinched and it will not affect the delicious taste of the crab.

The most important thing to note about this method is to control the water temperature. If the water temperature is too low, the crabs will not be stunned, while if the water temperature is too high, the crabs' legs will fall off. You can use your hand to test the temperature during the specific operation. If you put your hand inside and it feels a little hot but not too hot, the temperature is just around 45 degrees.

Key points for washing crabs:

Be sure to scrub vigorously and make sure no corners are left out.

A reminder:

The washed crabs should be used for cooking as soon as possible, because after the above-mentioned tossing, the crabs have become half-dead and can easily die. It would not be good to eat them after they die.
