How to kill woodworms

How to kill woodworms

Wood borers are a very common pest. They use wood as a carrier and cause great harm to trees. If you have wooden furniture or wooden handicrafts in your home, they may be damaged by termites, which is a headache. Even if there are no termites, we still need to know how to prevent and control them to minimize their impact on us. So, how to kill termites? Let’s take a look at the method below.

Wood borers are small in size, with the adult body length generally being 2-3mm. Most of them overwinter as larvae, pupate in the following spring, and emerge as adults in April or May. The adults lay eggs after mating, and the larvae that hatch after about 15 days from the eggs burrow into wood or fur and cause damage. Wood borers are important pests in agriculture and forestry, wood decoration and furniture, wooden Buddha statues, and fur clothing.

1. Use insect-proof treated angle materials during decoration.

2. Injection treatment shall be adopted for the holes infested by insects in the damaged areas.

3. Carry out comprehensive residual spraying on all scraps in the affected area.

Handicraft prevention

1. The authority to reinforce a sculpture must be explained to and agreed upon by the owner of the work.

2. Use B72 or acrylic resin materials with concentrations of 15% and 30% respectively.

3. First inject 15% acrylic resin, which can penetrate deep into the wood.

4. Then drip in 30% acrylic resin as the main fixation agent.

5. If it is the back side, drill in from the bottom and then inject.

Chemical prevention

For the joists used for laying the floor, spray or paint them with COSH emulsion before laying the floor. For the building materials used for furniture and wall panel lining, stack them together and spray them with COSH emulsion. Through the prevention methods mentioned above, the spread of bark beetles can be basically controlled.

High temperature method

When degreasing building materials, residents generally use steam high-temperature degreasing method, which can not only degrease the building materials, but also effectively kill the adult and eggs of bark beetles, achieving the effect of killing two birds with one stone.

Fumigation

Soak the cotton in a special fumigation insecticide, use tweezers to place the cotton ball above the holes made by bark beetles, then cover it with plastic film or household plastic wrap, and seal it with tape all around, using the fumigation, contact and stomach poison effects of the insecticide to carry out the extermination. After fumigation is completed, doors and windows must be opened in time for ventilation.
