What to do if the face hurts when welded

What to do if the face hurts when welded

Electric welding is a very dangerous job. If strict protective measures are not taken during the welding process, it will cause personal injury, especially to the more fragile face and eyes, which are most susceptible to injury. During the electric welding process, different problems arise and corresponding treatment measures need to be taken. Here we will introduce to you how to deal with injuries caused by electric welding!

1. Mild burns to the skin caused by electric welding arc

Symptoms: Redness and sometimes blistering at the burn site, along with mild pain.

Treatment method: First clean the burned area with hydrogen peroxide, apply some burn medicine such as Burn Ning and burn ointment, and then bandage it with gauze (one or two circles are enough, it is hot in summer, so it is necessary to have good air permeability, and the gauze can be removed at night); if there are no medicines around, you can simply clean the burned area with clean water, apply some cooling oil or sesame oil (sesame oil) (light soy sauce and washing every thirty to forty minutes will also work).

2. Electric welding arc burns eyes

Symptoms: Dry eyes, sore eyes, and tearing eyes (especially at night).

Treatment method: Apply a towel dipped in cold water to the eyes; use anti-inflammatory eye drops to prevent eye infection; in addition, if you do not want to affect your normal work, you can go to the hospital to get 0.5% dicaine solution (a surface anesthetic that can immediately eliminate eye pain symptoms).

3. What should I do if I get burned by electric welding?

Protect the injured part: ① Get away from heat source quickly. If there is cool water nearby, you can shower or bathe first to lower the local temperature. ②Avoid further damage to the area. Clothes, pants, socks, etc. covering the injured area should be cut open and removed, but not peeled off. When transporting, the injured area should be placed upward to avoid pressure. ③ Reduce contamination by covering the wound with clean sheets, clothes, etc. or simply bandaging it.

Sedation and pain relief: ① Comfort and encourage the injured person to keep him/her emotionally stable, not frightened or irritable. ② Use diazepam, pethidine (Dulantin), etc. as appropriate. Because seriously injured people may be in shock, medication must be administered intravenously, but care must be taken to avoid suppressing the respiratory center. ③The severe pain from burns on the hands and feet can often be relieved by cold immersion.
