What to do if your toenails are lifted

What to do if your toenails are lifted

There are many reasons for the nail to be lifted up, especially if there are some collisions in life without paying attention, which will cause the nail to fall off. But we all know that the nail will grow back after it falls off, so try to avoid collisions. And when the nail is lifted up and falls off, pay attention to correct bandaging to avoid local infection.

1. It is normal for toenails to fall off due to bumps. Most people have lost their nails before, and toenails grow back easily after they fall off. The phenomenon that the toenails that grow back are either very small or uneven is caused by external reasons. Because you have been wearing shoes and walking during the process of the nails falling off and growing back, the external force will cause the growth of the new nails to be deformed. It's nothing to worry about.

2. Clubbing: The nail is significantly arched upward and curved around the finger. Nail clubbing may indicate emphysema, tuberculosis, cardiovascular disease, ulcerative colitis, or cirrhosis of the liver.

3. Blue Crescent: If the crescent-shaped white mark at the base of the nail has a blue halo, it may indicate any of the following conditions: obstructed blood circulation, heart disease, Raynaud's syndrome, vasospasm of the fingers and toes, usually due to cold exposure. But it is sometimes associated with rheumatoid arthritis or the autoimmune disease lupus erythematosus.

4. Spoon-shaped nail: The middle of the nail is sunken, and the entire nail becomes flat or spoon-shaped. This type of nails is related to iron deficiency anemia, syphilis, thyroid disorders, rheumatic fever, etc.

5. Lindsay's nails: The half of the nail near the tip is pink or brown, and the half near the nail is white. This type of nail is also called bipartite nail and may be a sign of chronic renal failure.

6 Beau's lines: Horizontal grooves on the nails indicate malnutrition or a serious illness that temporarily affects nail growth, such as measles, rib inflammation, or a sudden heart attack.
