What is the negative pressure for suction?

Many people may have done suctioning, but there are also many people who don’t know about suctioning. Due to various reasons, some foreign objects will appear in the human respiratory tract, which will lead to respiratory diseases and affect the smooth breathing of the person. At this time, suctioning can be used to discharge the secretions from the respiratory tract. This method is currently frequently used. The following introduces professional knowledge about suctioning.

1. What is the negative pressure of the suction machine?

When in use, pulling it once can generate a negative pressure of 60kPa (450mmHg), and pulling it twice in a row can generate a negative pressure of 80kPa (600mmHg). Its suction power is greater than that of commonly used electric suction devices. Power supply voltage: AC220V±10%, 50Hz±2%, power: 90V, ultimate negative pressure value: ≥0.075MPa. Pumping rate: ≥15L/min. Liquid storage bottle: 1000 ml. What is the negative pressure of the suction machine?

2. Precautions for using the suction device

Monitor the performance of the aspirator and tubing. Before using a portable suction device, you must check whether the power supply voltage matches the suction device voltage, and whether the connection between the air inlet and outlet pipes is correct; the sputum in the liquid storage bottle should be poured and cleaned at any time to prevent the sputum from flowing back into the motor and damaging the suction device; after use, the suction device should be disinfected at any time. All pipes and liquid storage bottles should be placed in a dry place and regularly maintained. Operate skillfully, strictly follow sterility procedures, and prevent cross infection. Suction should be performed gently and steadily, and the negative pressure should not be too large to avoid damaging the tracheal mucosa. The suction time should not exceed 15 seconds at a time when using a portable suction device. Suctioning of the trachea should be performed aseptically.

3. How to use the suction machine

Turn on the power, connect the suction device, turn on the suction switch, and check whether the performance of the suction device is good and whether the suction tube is unobstructed. Have the patient face the operator with his head slightly tilted back. For unconscious patients, a mouth opener can be used to help them open their mouths. Then insert the suction tube into the cheek and pharynx of the mouth. If oral suction is difficult, you can insert a tube from the nasal cavity into the pharynx. After it is inserted into the appropriate position, turn on the power and rotate the suction tube left and right, slowly move it up, and lift it up to suck out the secretions from the pharynx, mouth, and nose section by section.

Maintenance and system of suction machine:

1. Use tap water to pre-rinse the connecting pipe to moisten the pipe wall and pre-clean foreign matter. Insert the cotton thread into the connecting pipe so that it passes through the entire pipe and exposes both ends. Specific method: Tie a knot at one end of a cotton thread, tie it at the same point 4 to 5 times, so that the knot can slide freely in the tube and is as large as possible. Moisten the entire cotton thread and cut off the untied part in front of the knotted end. Place the knot into one end of the connecting tube and feed the cotton thread in. 2. Tie the gauze with cotton thread to clean the pipe. Cut off the knot at one end, and tie the cotton thread entering the tube and the other cotton thread at 1/3 and 2/3 of the long axis of the gauze respectively. After wetting the gauze, use the cotton thread that is already in the pipe to pull the gauze into the pipe, and use the friction of the gauze against the tube wall to clean the lumen (at this time the gauze should be 2/3 of the total length of 25 cm, half of which is as thick as 4 cm wide gauze, and the other half is as thick as 8 cm wide gauze) to straighten the pipe.
