What are the techniques for cupping and tightening?

In daily life, the human body will inevitably have some discomfort symptoms. Many people will think of taking medicine for treatment first. However, from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, there is no need to rush to take medicine for some minor problems. You can choose some healthier and more effective methods, such as traditional acupuncture, cupping, etc. If you want to get better results from cupping, you must pull the cup tightly. So how can you pull the cup tightly?

What are the techniques for cupping?

1. Material selection

First of all, you should pay attention to the selection of materials. Chinese medicine mostly uses bamboo tubes for cupping. If you can't find one, glass bottles or ceramic cups will do. But the mouth must be thick and smooth to prevent the cupping mouth from being too thin and hurting the skin and flesh. The bottom should be wide and semicircular.

2. Preparation before cupping

Before cupping, the cup should be washed and dried first, and the person being cupped should lie down or sit comfortably, exposing the area to be cupped, and then light the fire and insert the cup.

3. Operation of cupping

When lighting a fire, usually hold the cup with one hand and the lit probe with the other hand. The operation should be quick, shake the burning probe in the cup a few times and then remove it, and quickly place the cup on the part to be treated. While the fire is still burning, hold the cup mouth tightly against the affected area. Do not wait for the fire to go out, otherwise it will be too loose and not conducive to absorbing moisture. It is better to feel the cup mouth tightly sucked on the body. Be careful not to heat the edge of the jar to avoid burns.

4. Time

Generally, the cup can be removed after 15 to 20 minutes. Do not pull the cup forcefully, or pull or turn it hard. The key is to tilt the cup to one side with one hand and press the skin with the other hand to allow air to enter the cup through the gap, and the cup will naturally separate from the skin.

5. Misconceptions about cupping

If it doesn’t work once, try cupping twice. Repeatedly at the same location. I don’t believe that cupping has no effect. There is a kind of determination that "there is nothing difficult in the world if one is determined enough", but in fact, this will not work. You can even cup the entire body when doing cupping, as this will provide comprehensive treatment and enhance the therapeutic effect. But if you pull it out repeatedly in the same place, it will not be worth it.
