Is acupuncture effective for hemiplegia

Hemiplegia is the most common symptom after a stroke. It is also called hemiplegia. Patients with this disease generally have movement disorders of the limbs and muscles on one side of the body. Although some patients with milder hemiplegia symptoms can still perform some simple activities, there are still many inconveniences in the movements of their limbs. Acupuncture has achieved remarkable results in the treatment of hemiplegia.

Is acupuncture effective for hemiplegia?

1. Chinese medicine professionals pointed out:

Hemiplegia is the most common sequelae of stroke. It refers to the loss of muscle strength, difficulty in movement or complete inability to move one side of the limbs. As the duration of hemiplegia caused by stroke increases, the limbs gradually become rigid, muscle tone gradually increases, and the elbow joints of the upper limbs become semi-flexed and adducted.

2. Chinese medicine professionals said:

Stroke patients with hemiplegia often have sensory disturbances in the ipsilateral limbs, such as insensitivity to cold and heat, and pain. Sometimes it may be accompanied by ipsilateral visual field loss, which means that when looking straight ahead, you cannot see objects or people on the paralyzed side, and you must turn your head to the paralyzed side to see them. Traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture has significant effect in treating the sequelae of hemiplegia caused by stroke.

3. Chinese medicine professionals believe that:

Acupuncture therapy can help invigorate the brain, invigorate the mind, activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and directly reach the root of the disease to achieve a certain therapeutic effect. A brief introduction is as follows:

Traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture can use the acupoints of the limbs to treat the sequelae of hemiplegia caused by stroke, such as Quchi, Shousanli, Hegu, etc. on the upper limbs, and Zusanli, Sanyinjiao, etc. on the lower limbs to treat hemiplegia. For refreshing the brain, you can use acupoints such as Baihui and Sishencong on the head, and you can also use the four acupoints around Baihui.

Now all the needles used for treatment are disposable, and there are strict requirements for acupuncture disinfection, so everyone can rest assured that there is no risk of contamination. If patients are guided to carry out necessary rehabilitation treatment and training while receiving acupuncture treatment, their quality of life will improve faster.

Hemiplegic patients are treated

1. Quit smoking and drink less: This is a cliché, but also the most difficult to do. But in any case, smoking is harmful and has no benefits. Drinking a small amount of low-alcohol liquor, such as wine, has some benefits to the body, but drinking excessively, especially strong liquor, is definitely harmful to the heart, brain blood vessels and liver.

2. Reasonable diet (low-fat, low-sugar, low-salt diet)

(1) Eat less animal fat and foods high in cholesterol: Eat less lard, butter, cream, egg yolks, animal offal, animal brains, fish roe, and shellfish such as crabs, clams, and snails. The daily intake of eggs or duck eggs should not exceed 1. For those with high blood lipids, 2 eggs per week are sufficient. The amount of vegetable oil should not be too much.

Foods low in cholesterol: lean meat, fish (including most freshwater fish and saltwater fish), sea cucumbers, jellyfish, etc. Fish fat contains long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, which have the effect of lowering cholesterol.

(2) Eat more vegetables and fruits, which are rich in vitamins, potassium, calcium, etc. Vitamin C can increase vascular elasticity, improve vascular permeability and lower serum cholesterol. Vitamin B6 can inhibit platelet aggregation and thus prevent thrombosis.

(3) Eat in moderation and do not eat too much. It is advisable to eat some coarse grains. Eat less sweets and control your weight. Sugar and carbohydrates are converted into fat in the body, making the body fat and increasing the burden on the heart.

(4) Limit salt intake. Dishes should not be too salty. The daily intake should not exceed 5 grams per person, which means that a family of three should not consume more than 500 grams of salt per month. The sodium in salt can increase the burden on the heart, raise blood pressure, and promote arteriosclerosis. Sodium is also widely present in various foods, especially pickled and smoked foods (such as bacon, salted fish, pickles and pickles). Soy sauce and MSG are also high in sodium and should be eaten as little as possible.

(5) Ensure adequate drinking of water. Insufficient drinking of water will increase blood viscosity and make it difficult to excrete metabolic waste. Drinking one or two glasses of boiled water on an empty stomach in the morning can reduce blood viscosity and dilate blood vessels, which is beneficial to improving the body's metabolism and reducing thrombosis. It is also necessary to replenish sufficient water in time to meet physiological needs.
