Minoxidil solution usage and dosage

Minoxidil solution, its main therapeutic effect is to treat alopecia areata or hair loss in men. It is an external medicine and cannot be taken orally. When using it, apply it on the head according to a certain proportion. The amount used each time should not exceed two milliliters. After using this medicine, you should wash your hands in time. In addition, this medicine has certain side effects and must be used under the guidance of a doctor. It cannot be applied to other parts of the skin.

Dosage

For topical use: 1 ml each time (containing 50 mg of minoxidil), apply to the affected area of ​​the head, starting from the center of the affected area, and massage with your hands for 3 to 5 minutes. This dose should be used regardless of the size of the affected area. The total daily dosage should not exceed 2 ml. Wash hands after using this product.

This product must be used under the guidance of medical personnel and should not be applied to other areas of the body. This product should be used when hair and scalp are completely dry.

Adverse Reactions

The most common adverse reaction of this product in clinical practice is mild dermatitis of the scalp. There are occasional reports of the following adverse reactions after using this product, but the causal relationship between them and the use is not clear. These adverse reactions include irritant dermatitis (redness, scaling and burning), nonspecific allergic reactions, wheals, allergic rhinitis, facial swelling, irritation, shortness of breath, headache, neuritis, dizziness, syncope, vertigo, edema, chest pain, changes in blood pressure, palpitations and changes in pulse rate.

Precautions

Patients must undergo a medical history and physical examination before being considered for treatment with minoxidil solution. The doctor must be sure that the patient has a normal scalp.

Although clinical trials of minoxidil solution have not shown that sufficient minoxidil is absorbed to cause systemic effects, some minoxidil may be absorbed through the skin and may cause tachycardia, angina, or potentiate orthostatic hypotension induced by guanethidine.

Patients with a pre-existing heart disease should be aware that their condition may be exacerbated by the use of minoxidil solution.

When using this product, you should be aware of some signs of systemic effects caused by minoxidil. If systemic effects or severe skin reactions occur, patients should stop using this product and contact their doctor.

This product may burn and irritate eyes. In the event of contact of the solution with sensitive surfaces (eyes, abrasions on the skin, mucous membranes), the area should be rinsed with plenty of cool water.

Accidental use of this product may result in serious adverse reactions. This product should be kept out of the reach of children.

The effectiveness of minoxidil 5% solution in patients with concomitant skin disease or those using concomitant topical corticosteroids or other skin products is unclear.
