What is the role and course of treatment of immunoglobulin

We all know that in order to prevent a certain disease, in addition to paying attention to various details in life, you can also go to the hospital for vaccination. Especially for newborn babies, they must be vaccinated as soon as possible to prevent certain epidemic diseases. During the vaccination process, parents will also learn about something called immunoglobulin. So what are its functions and treatment courses?

Function and use

This product is an immunoglobulin preparation specially for intravenous injection. It is prepared by separating fresh plasma from healthy people by low-temperature ethanol method. It can increase the body's immunity, supplement antibodies and immunomodulate, thereby improving the body's resistance to a variety of bacteria and viruses. It is mainly used to prevent measles, infectious hepatitis, poliomyelitis, chickenpox, etc., and can also be used for other bacterial and viral infections.

Dosage and Administration

For the prevention of measles, it is only used for children who have not been vaccinated with live measles vaccine but have close contact with measles patients. Generally, intramuscular injection is more effective within 5 days of contact with measles patients. If it exceeds 7 days, it can only alleviate symptoms. The dosage is 0.2ml~0.3ml/kg. Or inject 5ml for children under 5 years old and no more than 10ml for children over 6 years old. To prevent infectious hepatitis, it is best to inject within 5 days after contact and no more than 15 days. The dosage is 0.1ml~0.2ml/kg for children and 3ml~6ml/time for adults. It can prolong the incubation period, alleviate symptoms and prevent the onset of the disease. The effective period of one injection is 4 to 6 weeks. For the treatment of infectious hepatitis, intramuscular injection, 5ml-6ml/time, once every 6 days, 6 times as a course of treatment. It can also be injected daily or every other day.

Precautions

It must be injected within 15 days of contact with hepatitis A patients or virus carriers to be effective. It is still unclear whether this product has a preventive effect on other viral hepatitis.

Not suitable for use on infants. Infancy is the time when the body synthesizes immunoglobulin G and produces antibodies. The use of this product can inhibit the production of autoantibodies.

Pregnant women with "O" blood type should use it with caution as it may induce neonatal hemolytic disease in the fetus.

Use with caution by people with allergies. When immunoglobulin G is injected into the human body, in addition to antibodies, alloantigens also enter the body. Repeated injections may cause allergic reactions, such as urticaria, laryngeal edema, etc.

Be aware that immunoglobulin G may carry the hepatitis B surface antigen, which can cause hepatitis B when it enters the body. The same blood products from abroad still have the risk of transmitting AIDS.
