Will not wearing glasses make my myopia worse?

When it comes to myopia, many people think that if the condition is not very serious, they should try not to wear glasses, because wearing glasses will worsen the degree of myopia. But in fact, not wearing glasses, reading and writing will make myopia more likely to worsen.

1. Many people believe that wearing glasses after developing myopia will make the degree of myopia worse. Therefore, when children have symptoms of myopia, many parents would rather let them become myopic than wear glasses. In fact, this approach is wrong. Because the eyes are nearsighted, when they cannot see clearly, they are forced to increase their adjustments, causing the intraocular pressure to rise and the extraocular muscles to contract. This can cause the eye axis to lengthen and myopia to worsen in the long run.

2. At the same time, if you read or write without wearing glasses, you will inevitably be very close to the book or the table, which will more easily deepen your myopia. Therefore, it is better to wear glasses.

3. According to expert research, pseudomyopia should not be treated with glasses in principle, but true myopia requires glasses, and the degree of mixed glasses cannot exceed the degree of true myopia.

4. People with myopia below 100 degrees do not need to wear glasses temporarily; those with myopia above 100 degrees must wear glasses regardless of whether they are looking far or near. If they do not wear glasses, their eyes will get closer and closer to the target when writing or reading, which will easily deepen their myopia.

5. People with moderate to severe myopia should wear glasses regularly. Children under 10 years old who have a large difference in the degree of myopia or hyperopia in their two eyes should also wear glasses. Some experts also suggested that in order to reduce the load on the ciliary muscles of teenagers when looking at close objects, they can use myopia glasses when looking at distant objects and not wear glasses when looking at close objects.
