Epilepsy treatment and dietary considerations

Epilepsy treatment and dietary considerations

Special attention should be paid to the treatment and daily diet of epilepsy. First of all, you should pay attention to supplementing more vitamin C, because it can effectively improve the deficiency of neurotransmitters and reduce the occurrence of epilepsy. You should also eat more cereal foods.

1. Vitamin supplement: What should you pay attention to in your diet for epilepsy? Eat more acidic food and less salt. Acidic food provides the human body with rich vitamin C, vitamin B6, etc., which is beneficial to the synthesis of neurotransmitters, thereby making up for the lack of some neurotransmitters in epilepsy patients, especially those with primary epilepsy, and reducing the onset of epilepsy. Traditional acidic foods include: peanuts, walnuts, pork, beef, chicken, duck, goose, fish, shrimp, eggs, etc. Epilepsy patients can adjust their diet appropriately and make reasonable combinations based on this.

2. Eat more cereal foods: What should you pay attention to in your diet for epilepsy? Eat more beans and cereal foods. Studies have shown that beans and cereal foods (such as soybeans, lentils, wheat, etc.) are rich in the trace element manganese. A survey shows that 1/3 of children with epilepsy have lower serum manganese than normal children. There was a 15-year-old child whose serum manganese was half that of a normal child. Therefore, eating more beans and cereal foods can supplement the insufficient manganese intake of epilepsy patients. Other studies have shown that normal brain cells contain a certain amount of phosphatase, but the brains of epilepsy patients are severely lacking in this enzyme. Bean sprouts are rich in nitrophosphatase, so eating bean sprouts can supplement the phosphatase deficiency and alleviate the condition.

3. Control your water intake: Some scholars believe that: "The diencephalon is the body's water regulation center. A large amount of fluid entering the body will increase the burden on the diencephalon, thereby inducing epilepsy." Moreover, some epilepsy patients often suddenly develop the disease while holding their urine, probably because the bladder is overfilled after drinking too much water.
