Acupuncture treatment for knee pain

Acupuncture treatment for knee pain

Acupuncture treatment for the knee joint is a method of treatment and regulation in traditional Chinese medicine, but attention should be paid to the correct techniques and acupoints to relieve the pain. Because the pain location of the knee joint is different, the acupoints of acupuncture will also change, and it cannot be performed blindly.

1. Cross-meridian giant needling method

Depending on the location of the pain in the affected knee, select the Quchi, Chize, Tianjing, Xiaohai and other acupoints on the opposite elbow. After getting the qi, apply the lifting, inserting, twisting and draining method until the pain in the affected area is relieved or disappears, and leave the needle in for 30 minutes.

2. Acupuncture Neiguan

Select the Neiguan point on the affected side. After the needle is inserted and qi is obtained, continue to slowly twist the needle. At the same time, ask the patient to move the affected knee or press the affected area with his hand. After the pain is reduced or disappears, leave the needle in for 20 minutes.

3. Blind point pricking and cupping

Select the Gaohuang point on the affected side of the back, press near it with the thumb, and after finding the painful point, prick it several times with a three-edged needle or tap the skin with a needle to cause bleeding, then apply cupping and leave the cup for 10 minutes. After the blood clots are removed, the illness that has lasted for several years is often relieved immediately.

4. Local pricking and cupping

Find the blue vein at the painful part of the knee joint, prick it with a three-edged needle, and bleed as much as beans, then add cupping. To prevent the cupping jar from leaking, ultrasonic coupling agent can be applied to the cupping jar mouth. Leave in the jar for 10 minutes. If there is no vein, you can tap the tender point with a skin needle and then apply cupping. This method is effective in treating long-term pain and sprains.

5. Weizhong bloodletting method

The patient lies prone and places plastic paper, straw paper or cotton wool under the affected knee. If you see swollen collaterals near the Weizhong point, prick them with a three-edged needle and allow the blood to flow out. The blood will first be dark purple, then gradually turn into light red, and then stop flowing. Wipe away the blood with a 75% alcohol cotton ball.

6 Acupuncture Method for Sensitive Points in the Abdomen

Patients with knee pain may have obvious sensitive points in the fourth segment of the rectus abdominis muscle, and it is often more obvious on the affected side. The patient lies in supine position, and after finding the sensitive point on the abdomen with the thumb, a 1.5-inch needle is slowly inserted. After qi is felt, the needle is retained for 30 minutes.
