Many people will find that their corneas are congested in their daily lives. If you want effective treatment, you should pay attention to understand the cause. For example, keratitis or acute angle glaucoma, these diseases will show symptoms of corneal congestion. 1. Keratitis Cause: Most keratitis is caused by external infection. Minor corneal trauma is often the cause of infection, and common pathogens are bacteria, fungi, viruses, etc. In addition, corneal immune dysfunction or malnutrition can cause keratitis. Physical symptoms: pain in the affected eye, foreign body sensation, blepharospasm, photophobia, tearing, sudden decrease in vision, etc. Symptoms: Keratitis caused by different causes has its own characteristics, but the basic symptoms are blepharospasm and edema, obvious conjunctival congestion, mixed congestion and edema of the bulbar conjunctiva, corneal opacity or ulceration, visible sediment behind the cornea, and pus in the anterior chamber. Treatment mechanism: The first step in treating keratitis is to remove the cause. Most keratitis is caused by infection, so it is important to choose appropriate antibiotics and antiviral drugs. 2. Acute angle-closure glaucoma Cause: The cause of the disease is relatively complicated. The incidence rate in women is 2 to 4 times that in men. It mostly occurs in middle-aged and elderly women. It is a binocular disease and has a certain relationship with genetics. It is mainly caused by the closure of the eye's chamber angle, obstruction of the aqueous humor outflow pathway, and increased intraocular pressure. Symptoms: edema of the eyelids and conjunctiva, significant mixed congestion of the conjunctiva, cloudy corneal edema, extremely shallow anterior chamber, iris edema, dilated pupils, disappearance of light reflexes, very high intraocular pressure, which may be greater than 60 mmHg; sudden decrease in vision, severe eye pain, ipsilateral migraine, which may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting (easily misdiagnosed as gastrointestinal diseases) Treatment mechanism: Acute angle-closure glaucoma develops rapidly and is a serious condition that can cause blindness in a short period of time. It should be treated promptly and intraocular pressure should be controlled within 24-48 hours as much as possible. In principle, use medication to control intraocular pressure first, and then adopt surgical treatment as soon as possible. The main drugs for lowering intraocular pressure include 20% mannitol solution, 50% glycerol, acetazolamide tablets, etc. 3. Subconjunctival hemorrhage Causes: Mostly due to hypertension, arteriosclerosis, poor coagulation function, local vascular inflammation or increased fragility, forced breath holding or trauma. Symptoms: Patients generally have no discomfort, but occasionally have mild soreness, which they often only notice accidentally or after being discovered by others. Symptoms: Punctate or flake hemorrhages can be seen on the bulbar conjunctiva, which do not fade when pressed. They are bright red when fresh and dark red when older. Treatment mechanism: You can take vitamin C and compound rutin tablets orally. If you have high blood pressure, you can take antihypertensive drugs. Cold compresses can be applied for fresh bleeding. After the bleeding stabilizes, hot compresses can be applied to speed up absorption. It will usually disappear on its own in 2 to 3 weeks. |
