What is gastrolithiasis

If you want to treat gastric stones, you must first understand how this disease is caused, because it will manifest in different types of symptoms, such as plant-based gastric stones, hair stones, or lactic acid stones, and the causes are different, so you must clarify them before adjusting and preventing them.

1. Plant-based gastric stones

Persimmon contains tannin (phlobatannin), gum and pectin. Under the action of gastric acid, tannin combines with protein to form tannic acid protein, which then bonds with pectin, gum and cellulose to form gastric persimmon stones. A high acid environment is a condition for the occurrence of gastric stones. Hawthorn, black dates, etc. also contain large amounts of pectin and tannins, which can often form gastric stones. The persimmons produced in the south have loose and juicy flesh and are not easy to form persimmon stones. Remnant stomach gastrolithiasis generally occurs in patients with residual stomach and gastric motility disorders, and most of them are vegetative stones. The high fiber content in the diet, reduced drainage from the outlet after surgery, and lack of food chewing can cause the roots, leaves, and barks of plants to coagulate with mucus in the stomach and form stones.

2. Rough Stone

When hair enters the stomach, it adheres to the mucosa and is difficult to be excreted. If it is ingested repeatedly, it will form a hair ball due to intertwining and entanglement. Hair stones are mostly J-shaped or U-shaped, with a rough and uneven surface, covered with mucus and a foul smell. Long-term irritation to the stomach may cause ulcers or perforation.

1. Lactic acid stone

It is more common in low-birthweight newborns who are fed with high-concentration milk. Low-birthweight newborns have weak gastric motility, and high-concentration milk can form lactic acid gastric stones in the stomach. Shellac stones are common in painters who have the habit of sucking shellac alcohol. Some drug ingredients such as calcium carbonate, bismuth, some hard Chinese medicine pills, and barium sulfate for radiography have also been reported to form gastric stones in the stomach.
