What are the nursing measures for heart failure

The heart occupies an important position in the human body. If heart failure occurs, it must be treated in a timely manner. The use of drugs is now a common treatment method. In fact, during the treatment process, more attention should be paid to the care of patients with heart failure so that patients can recover better.

1. Rest is the main way to reduce the burden on the heart. For patients with mild heart failure, it is sufficient to limit physical activity; for patients with severe heart failure, bed rest is recommended. We should also pay attention to relieving the patient's mental burden.

2. Low-calorie diet, sufficient vitamins, moderate amount of protein, and appropriate amount of carbohydrates and fats.

3. Eat small meals frequently, three meals and two snacks. Avoid excessive filling of the gastrointestinal tract after meals, which may cause the diaphragm to rise and compress the heart. For those who have paroxysmal dyspnea at night, it is advisable to advance the dinner time and not take any food or water after dinner.

4. Food should be easy to digest, preferably liquid or semi-liquid, such as rice porridge, lotus root powder, egg drop soup, milk, yogurt, vermicelli, biscuits, bread slices, etc. Avoid eating hard, cold, greasy, and irritating foods, as well as foods that easily cause bloating (such as sweet potatoes, potatoes, pumpkins, etc.).

5. Low salt. Control within 3 grams per day. If edema is obvious, urine volume is decreased, shortness of breath, palpitations, and inability to lie flat occur, a strict salt-free diet should be adopted. Pickles, pickled vegetables, bacon, soy sauce and all pickled products are all taboo, and the amount of water should also be controlled.

6. Foods that are forbidden or should be eaten in moderation include fried dough sticks, fried cakes, fermented tofu, sausages, bacon, cured meat, smoked fish, sea fish, salted eggs, pickles, preserved eggs, bean paste, soda, beer, etc.

7. Eat in moderation, follow the principle of eating small meals frequently, rich in nutrition and easy to digest. Avoid eating too much or eating rich and greasy food, and appropriately limit sodium salt intake.
