How to treat muscle edema

Muscle health has a huge impact on the body, because muscles are the source of body strength. Strong muscle contraction ability allows people to move freely and is crucial to maintaining survival ability. However, muscle diseases are also very common and can easily bring huge negative impacts to life. For example, muscle edema is one of the common diseases. Let’s take a look at how to treat muscle edema.

If it is confirmed that the edema is caused by soft tissues such as muscles, a relatively simple and effective method is to apply ice compress. Put some ice cubes in a plastic bag, then wrap it with a towel and apply it directly to the injured and swollen part. Depending on the severity of the edema, change to hot compress after 3-5 days and the patient will basically recover. Another thing is to pay attention to getting more rest. If you often watch sports games, you will notice that many athletes will apply something to their injured parts after leaving the field, and it is usually ice. If you cannot rule out bone injury, it is recommended that you go to the hospital first to rule out bone injury.

In the first three days of injury, tissue exudation and vascular bleeding may lead to tissue swelling and obvious pain. You should pay attention to limiting local activities and applying cold compresses to reduce exudation and bleeding. After three days, the exudation or bleeding will be absorbed back into the blood vessels and the swelling will gradually subside. You should apply hot compresses and take blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing drugs such as Dieda Pills for treatment. Antibiotics should be used throughout the process to prevent infection.

It is just a minor strain and the feeling is not very intense, but you will feel pain when lifting heavy objects or raising your arm. It is best to apply hot compress to the painful area. The hot compress will relieve the condition a lot and it will gradually get better after two days. You will feel severe pain at the moment of muscle strain. You must immediately give it cold treatment, rinse the area with cold water, then wrap ice cubes in a towel and apply cold compress until the pain and burning sensation are reduced.

After the cold compress, you can wrap the injured part with a bandage with appropriate force to prevent swelling. Slowly relax the muscles of the injured part, take some analgesic and hemostatic drugs while raising the affected limb, remove the bandage after one day, apply blood-activating or swelling-reducing plasters according to the injury, apply appropriate hot compresses or massage the injured part with a lighter technique.
