Can running lower blood pressure?

Can running lower blood pressure?

Running is definitely the most convenient and popular of all sports. It is not restricted by time and place. In modern society, night running and morning running are also ways that most people choose to exercise. Although it is said that running is good for the body, most people actually don’t know which parts of the body it can exercise. Running first exercises the body’s cardiopulmonary function. At the same time, long-term running can also help lower blood pressure.

Blood pressure is the pressure exerted on the blood vessel walls when blood flows. When the heart contracts, a certain pressure is applied to the blood and transmitted to the blood vessels. This is what we usually call high blood pressure. When the heart relaxes, blood flows back into the heart, the amount of blood in the blood vessels decreases, and the pressure on the blood vessels decreases. This is what we usually call low blood pressure.

Obviously, the factors that affect blood pressure are first of all the heart's contractile function. The better the heart's contractile function, the more complete the contraction and relaxation, the more sufficient the blood will flow out of and back into the heart, the more stable the dynamic balance will be, and the smaller and more stable the pressure on the blood vessels will be.

The second factor is the amount of blood. The more blood there is, the more blood there is per unit area of blood vessels, and the greater the pressure they are under. The purpose of people with high blood pressure eating a light diet and eating less salt is to reduce the osmotic pressure of the blood, prevent tissue cells from becoming dehydrated and increasing the blood volume, thereby reducing the total amount of blood. This advice is given for this reason.

The third is the elasticity of blood vessels. The better the elasticity of blood vessels, the better the buffering capacity will be against the pressure of blood flow, which will help lower blood pressure. Therefore, increased blood pressure can also reflect the degree of arteriosclerosis, especially the greater the difference between high and low pressure, the worse the elasticity of the blood vessels and the more severe the degree of arteriosclerosis.

When running, the heart rate will increase, the heart's contractile function will be strengthened, especially the heart's diastole will increase, blood circulation will speed up, blood return will increase, and blood pressure will drop. When running, blood vessels throughout the body dilate and their contraction function is strengthened. The ability to buffer the pressure of blood flow is fully exerted, the pressure on blood vessels is reduced, and blood pressure decreases. A lot of sweat is secreted when running, and sweat is actually water in the blood, which reduces the total amount of blood in the body, reduces the amount of blood that blood vessels need to accommodate, and the pressure will also decrease accordingly.
