What should I pay attention to in my diet before a physical examination

Physical examination is a regular check of people's physical condition. It can help people discover hidden disease factors in time and understand whether their bodies are functioning normally. If they can find any minor problems in their bodies, they can also prevent and adjust in advance to avoid the occurrence of diseases. Therefore, annual physical examinations are very necessary. It is recommended to have one or two physical examinations a year. The significance of physical examinations is very important. So what should you pay attention to in your diet before the physical examination?

Food can directly affect postprandial blood sugar, so fasting blood sugar should be measured after fasting for at least 8 hours. If you have your fasting blood sugar tested at 7am, you should not eat any snacks, fruits or drinks before 10pm the previous night. But you can drink a small amount of boiled water during this period. It is best to finish dinner before 8 o'clock in the evening and stop eating snacks after dinner. Diabetic patients with unstable blood sugar who use insulin before bed can simply have a snack as usual.

The day before the blood test, there should not be any major changes in your diet. Do not eat or drink too much, especially do not drink alcohol. Do not eat too greasy, sweet or salty food, so as not to affect the test results. It is not advisable to drink strong tea, coffee or other stimulating beverages before having blood drawn to test fasting blood sugar. If you feel thirsty, you can drink a small amount of boiled water, purified water, mineral water, etc. The total amount should not exceed 100 ml. People who have the habit of drinking water in the morning should be patient, because drinking water will also affect the test results of blood tests. Although the impact is not very serious, we still have to try our best to overcome it in order to ensure objective and accurate physical examination results.

Dietary taboos before the physical examination: eat less or no high-fat food within 3 days before the physical examination, do not drink alcohol, and avoid fatigue. High-fat foods, alcohol, and rest conditions all have special effects on the results of physical examinations. You should try to do the above in the period before the physical examination to ensure the objectivity of the results.

Tips for taking medication during physical examinations: blood should be drawn on an empty stomach, but medication for patients with chronic diseases should be treated differently. For example, patients with hypertension need to take antihypertensive drugs every morning to maintain stable blood pressure. Abruptly stopping or delaying the medication may cause a sudden rise in blood pressure and lead to danger. Therefore, patients with hypertension should take their antihypertensive medications as usual and then undergo a physical examination. If you are taking antibiotics, vitamin C or weight loss drugs, please stop taking the drugs for 3 days before having a physical examination.

Physical examination is very important, so in addition to diet, there are other things to pay attention to, such as choosing a good time. Generally, the best time for a physical examination is around seven to nine in the morning. Also, if you are a girl, try not to do it during your menstrual period. It is best to do it about a week after your period ends. Also, make sure you are in a good mood, because an excited mood may affect the accuracy of the physical examination. Finally, pregnant women must be careful not to undergo examinations that may affect the fetus.
