What are the medicines for treating menopause?

Nowadays, people's pace of life is getting faster and faster. Women occupy a very important position both in work and in life, so female friends are under great pressure. For female friends who are about to enter menopause, prevention is very critical. The symptoms of menopause are very obvious, such as hot flashes, irritability, etc. It is more convenient to use drugs to treat menopause, saving time and effort. So, what are the drugs for treating menopause?

According to statistics, there are approximately 120 million menopausal women in my country. In recent years, as people's concepts have changed, more and more people have used drugs to relieve various menopausal symptoms, which has led to the growth of the menopausal drug market. Data shows that the current menopausal medications are mainly estrogen. In the early 1950s, with the success of extracting large amounts of estrogen from horse urine, estrogen replacement therapy emerged in the United States. Products include Premarin and a new product, Synergia, has been launched in recent years. Similar products include Levitra from the Netherlands, Nogenning from Denmark and Fushuning from Germany. The market for estrogen replacement therapy using estrogen and progesterone to treat menopausal syndrome is developing rapidly. In some parts of the United States, up to 50% of menopausal women take estrogen for an average of 5 years.

This therapy is effective in improving menopausal symptoms, but with the passage of time and in-depth research, there are more and more reports of its side effects. It may pose risks to women, particularly by contributing to vaginal bleeding, endometrial cancer, and breast cancer.

Due to the serious side effects of estrogen replacement therapy, people have shifted their focus to phytoestrogens and traditional Chinese medicine. Phytoestrogens are natural compounds found in plants that have a structure similar to estrogen and have weak estrogenic effects, such as isoflavones, genistein, lignans and coumestrol. Studies have found that phytoestrogens are found in beans, wheat bran, flax seeds and certain fruits. The Chinese medicinal herbs Senecio, Safflower, Leonurus japonicus, and Verbena also contain phytoestrogens.

Traditional Chinese medicine is used to treat female menopause based on syndrome differentiation. In traditional Chinese medicine, menopausal syndrome is roughly equivalent to "visceral mania", "lily disease" and "various symptoms before and after menstruation". According to TCM theory, "kidneys govern reproduction" and "liver governs secretion." Kidney deficiency causes a decrease in hormone levels, and liver depression leads to autonomic nervous system dysfunction, so TCM’s treatment of menopausal syndrome mainly focuses on "tonifying the kidney" and "relaxing the liver". Commonly used prescriptions include Zuogui Pills, Xiaoyao Pills, Liuwei Dihuang Pills, Jinkui Shenqi Pills, etc. Modern prescriptions include Menopause An, Funing Kang, and Jingxin Oral Liquid. The main Chinese medicines for treating menopausal syndrome include Epimedium, Rehmannia glutinosa, Cuscuta australis, Angelica sinensis, Bupleurum, Atractylodes macrocephala, Lycium barbarum, Senecio lancea, Safflower, and Leonurus japonicus. There are great individual differences in menopausal syndrome, so it is necessary to differentiate the symptoms and treat them based on the symptoms. Both Chinese and Western medicines can treat menopausal syndrome, and many women have used them personally and have proven that they are very effective.

Female friends should stick to appropriate exercise and proper physical training to prevent a rapid decline in physical strength. You also need to combine work and rest, have a regular work and rest schedule, and eat more foods containing protein, such as dairy products, beans, lean meat, mushrooms, black fungus, etc. Having sex life in moderation and arranging your life reasonably are beneficial to your physical and mental health.
