How to treat a sprained foot

How to treat a sprained foot

I believe most people have experienced spraining their ankle. For some people, the injury is not very serious and they can still limp and walk slowly, but for some people, the injury is very serious. Not long after spraining the ankle, the ankle becomes severely swollen. Not only can they not walk, but they are also in great pain and have to lie in bed for a week or two before they can walk. So how do we treat a sprained ankle? Now let me tell you how to treat a sprained foot.

1. Distinguish the severity of the injury. If you can still stand steadily after a sprain, that is, you can basically walk, then it means that the injury is minor and you can recover with proper treatment. If your ankle is severely swollen and accompanied by severe pain, and you are unable to stand or move on your own, and the pain is at the bone, and the swelling is getting worse, you should go to the hospital immediately and have an X-ray. At this time, you should ask someone for help instead of trying to be tough on yourself. Prompt care when you just sprain your injury plays a key role in recovery.

2. Use hot and cold compresses correctly. The swelling symptoms are severe when the sprain is just happening because the small blood vessels under the skin are ruptured and continue to bleed. At this time, you should immediately apply cold compresses to cool down the blood vessels and contract them, thereby controlling the progression of the injury. After 24 hours, the bleeding from the ruptured blood vessels stops. At this time, hot compress can be used to promote the dissipation of blood stasis around the sprain. After one day, you can use hot compress to prevent blood stasis from accumulating in the affected area.

In the early stages of sprain, swelling and pain gradually increase. You should stop activity and elevate the affected limb. After the condition stabilizes, you can gradually increase the activities of the foot and ankle as long as it is not very painful.

3. Use medication rationally. When you just sprain your ankle, do not take any medicine on your own or apply any blood-activating medicine to the injured area, as this will aggravate the swelling. If necessary, spray some "Get Better Fast" on the injured area, and you will feel more comfortable. After one day, take some Yunnan Baiyao, Dieda Pills, and Huoxue Zhitong Powder internally, and apply Wuhudan externally. After the swelling subsides, you don't need to take any more internal or external medicines.

After reading the above, I believe everyone knows how to treat a sprained ankle. The correct treatment method can help us recover faster, but if we walk around casually after spraining our ankle without any treatment measures, it may aggravate our condition, so we must seek timely treatment after spraining our ankle.
