Treatment principles for oral ulcers

Treatment principles for oral ulcers

Mouth sores are medically called oral ulcers and are a relatively common oral disease. Oral ulcers can occur at any time of the year, mainly on the tongue and inside the mouth. Generally speaking, women are more likely to develop oral ulcers than men, and the average age of onset is before the age of 30. Heat, mental stress, indigestion, etc. may cause oral ulcers, but the pathogenic mechanism is still not very clear.

After suffering from oral ulcers, the patient will have a burning sensation at the ulcer site, which will affect eating. Oral ulcers are generally several millimeters in diameter. Although they have a certain degree of self-healing ability, the recovery time is long and they are often accompanied by symptoms of bad breath and constipation. Clinically, oral ulcers are mainly divided into three types: mild recurrent oral ulcers, severe recurrent oral ulcers and herpes-type recurrent oral ulcers.

The methods for treating oral ulcers are mainly divided into two categories: local treatment and systemic treatment. Local treatment is to reduce inflammation and relieve pain, and promote ulcer healing. You can rinse your mouth with strong tea. Tea contains tannic acid, which can promote the healing of sores. Tea also contains vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin K and vitamin P. These types of vitamins can effectively promote the recovery of oral ulcers.

If examination determines that oral ulcers are caused by the patient's autoimmune disease, systemic treatment should be adopted: take one vitamin C tablet three times a day, with a specification of 0.1g each time. Vitamin B complex tablets, three times a day, one tablet each time. For patients with reduced serum zinc levels, their condition will improve after zinc supplementation. They can take 1% zinc sulfate syrup or zinc sulfate tablets.

Although oral ulcers are not a serious disease, they can cause great inconvenience to your life, so you must pay attention to prevention. First of all, you must maintain oral hygiene and eat less spicy and irritating foods. Also get enough sleep and avoid being too tired. You must pay attention to nutritional balance in your diet and develop certain bowel habits. Life should be regular and you should maintain an optimistic, cheerful and happy mood.
