Is platelet count 25 dangerous?

Is platelet count 25 dangerous?

A platelet count of 25 is significantly lower than the normal platelet count. A low platelet count is very harmful to human health because it indicates that people have many blood or other types of diseases. Of course, the specific causes of low platelets are different, and the treatment measures required are also different. So, what causes low platelets?

1. Aplastic anemia and bone marrow diseases

Aplastic anemia caused by various reasons is characterized by a decrease in bone marrow megakaryocytes and reduced platelet production. Thrombocytopenia may be the earliest manifestation of aplastic anemia.

2. Physical and chemical factors inhibit bone marrow

When treating malignant tumors, physical and chemical factors such as ionizing radiation and cytotoxic agents can cause thrombocytopenia, which can directly poison bone marrow cells or cause immune reactions.

3. Factors that selectively inhibit megakaryocytes

In addition to the mechanism of producing platelet antibodies, it also inhibits the production of platelets. And the latter is more important. It is generally considered to be a pharmacological effect.

4. Congenital megakaryocytosis

This disease is rare, with a significant decrease in megakaryocytes and platelets, and is often accompanied by congenital malformations such as malformations of the kidneys, heart, and bones. The prognosis is poor, and about 2/3 of children die from intracranial hemorrhage within 8 months.

5. Others

Estrogens may occasionally cause amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia. Ethanol can inhibit platelet production, which is a common cause of thrombocytopenia caused by long-term heavy drinking. There are few clinical bleeding symptoms, and platelets can recover after stopping drinking. There is currently no good treatment for thrombocytopenia in Western medicine, which mainly relies on hormones and blood transfusions. Long-term use of medication will also bring great pain and health risks to patients. The Chinese medicine Yangxue Runpi Decoction can not only increase blood and replenish blood, but also improve the body's immune function, and effectively repair the serious damage to the internal organs caused by long-term use of hormones and drugs, and prolonged illness, so that the functions of various internal organs can be effectively improved and the body's immunity can be enhanced.
