What is bone cancer? Bone tumors are tumors that occur in human bones or their accessory tissues. They can be benign or malignant. Malignant bone tumors are commonly known as bone cancer. They develop rapidly and have a high mortality rate. Malignant bone tumors are divided into primary and secondary types. Malignant tumors from other tissues or organs in the body that metastasize to the bones through the blood circulation and lymphatic system are secondary malignant bone tumors. There is another type of lesion called tumor-like lesions. The tissue of tumor-like lesions does not have the morphological characteristics of tumor cells, but its ecology and behavior are destructive like tumors. They are generally localized and easy to cure. Symptoms of bone cancer: The symptoms of early bone cancer are often not obvious. If it grows outside the bone, it may cause pain or functional problems due to compression of the surrounding soft tissue. Benign tumors may also change the structure of the bone, weakening its load-bearing function and causing pathological fractures, which are common. Malignant bone tumors, due to their rapid growth, often cause obvious swelling and tenderness of the limbs, and even fever of the skin and dilated blood vessels. The direct reaction of bone cancer is pain. This kind of pain is different from general pain. Its characteristic is quiet pain, and the quieter it is, the more painful it is. 1. General symptoms of bone cancer are the same as those of other cancer patients, including decreased appetite, weight loss, fever, etc. 2. Pain in the affected area, local lumps and swelling in the joints and limbs. 3. The movement of joints and limbs in the affected area is restricted. 4. Skin ulceration in the affected area. 5. There will be numbness in the distal part of the affected limb due to compression of nerves and blood vessels. 6. Pathological fracture or deformation occurs. 7. The typical symptom of bone cancer is bone pain. If the bone pain is more obvious at night than during the day, special attention should be paid. |
