How to perform ovarian tumor surgery

How is ovarian tumor surgery performed?

1. Pathological ovarian cysts are often seen in dermoid cysts, serous cysts or mucinous cysts. After observation, if the cysts fail to disappear or gradually increase in size and are larger than 5 cm in size, surgical treatment may be considered.

2. If the ovarian cyst increases rapidly in size within a short period of time and is accompanied by other symptoms such as abdominal pain and discomfort, the possibility of malignancy cannot be ruled out and timely surgical treatment is recommended.

3. Physiological ovarian cysts are generally caused by endocrine hormone disorders. The androgen or estrogen levels in these patients are too high, which may lead to the appearance of ovarian cysts. This situation can be observed first. It is generally recommended to recheck after 2 to 3 menstrual cycles. Some ovarian cysts can disappear naturally.

Symptoms of benign ovarian tumors

Among benign tumor-like lesions, follicular cysts and corpus luteum cysts are the most common. They are mostly unilateral with thin walls and may disappear on their own after 2-3 months of observation or oral contraceptives. If the lump persists or increases in size, it is likely to be an ovarian tumor.

When the tumor grows, you may feel abdominal distension or a mass in the abdomen. When the tumor grows and fills the entire pelvic and abdominal cavity, you may experience compression symptoms such as frequent urination, constipation, palpitations, and shortness of breath. During the triple examination, a round or quasi-round mass can be felt on one or both sides of the uterus. Most of them are cystic, with a smooth surface, movable, and not adhered to the uterus.

When benign ovarian tumors are relatively small, patients usually have no symptoms and they are usually discovered accidentally during a gynecological examination.
