Will nasopharyngeal carcinoma cause swollen lymph nodes? How to treat it?

What are the common symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer? Will it cause swollen lymph nodes? How should it be treated?

1. Among the symptoms of late-stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma, swollen cervical lymph nodes are the most common. Experts say that nasopharyngeal carcinoma has various manifestations and can be easily mistaken for other diseases, such as tinnitus, stuffy ears, nasal congestion, persistent headaches, facial numbness, difficulty swallowing, swollen cervical lymph nodes, etc. Some people have swollen lymph nodes under the ear roots, but they don't care because it doesn't hurt or itchy. When the lymph nodes gradually increase in size and number, they go to the hospital and find that it is already in the late stage of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Therefore, we must learn to distinguish the disease conditions to which the symptoms belong.

2. The enlarged lymph nodes are usually the deep lymph nodes of the internal jugular vein behind the mandibular angle, below the mastoid tip at the posterior edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle. Later, the lesions gradually spread downward, involving the middle and lower deep cervical lymph nodes and supraclavicular lymph nodes. The neck lumps grow very fast, and the large ones can be as big as a fist. Most of them are painless. If the tumor has infiltrated the soft tissue of the neck, or the swelling is very severe, neck pain may occur. During the examination, the neck lumps are mostly hard, with small nodules on the surface, and are difficult to move because of adhesions with the surrounding areas. They can fuse with each other to form a huge mass on the entire side of the neck.

3. For nasopharyngeal cancer, radiotherapy is the first choice. If the patient has any special conditions or is in a weak physical condition, conservative treatment with traditional Chinese medicine is recommended. Traditional Chinese medicine has the effects of strengthening the body and eliminating evil, replenishing qi and nourishing blood, improving the body's immunity, enhancing the body's own ability to resist cancer cells, alleviating the patient's pain, and improving the quality of life.
