Common reasons for high ca199

Common reasons for high ca199

Cancer is an incurable disease, and there are many types of cancer. The most common ones are bone cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer, etc. These diseases are usually more severe, and usually in the middle and late stages when diagnosed, so it is very difficult to treat. Ca199 is a value in the body that can measure cancer. If this value is too high, it is easy to cause cancer. So what is the reason for the high ca119?

How high is CA199?

CA199 is elevated. It may be seen in pancreatic cancer, but its specificity is not very high. An elevated CA199 level alone, even if it exceeds 700, cannot diagnose a tumor and can only be used as a screening and follow-up target. Don't be too nervous if you find an increase. Of course, you still need to undergo CT and other examinations to further rule out the tumor.

1) Tumor tissue production, including:

Differentiation antigens; embryonic antigens (AFP, CEA); isoenzyme (NSE); hormone (HCG).

Tissue-specific antigen (PSA, free PSA); mucin, glycoprotein, glycolipid (CA125).

Oncogenes and their products; polyamines, etc.

2) Produced after the interaction between tumor and host, including:

Serum ferritin; immune complexes; acute phase proteins.

Isoenzymes; interleukin receptors; tumor necrosis factor, etc.

Around 1980. Experts used hybridoma technology to obtain the ability to identify tumor-specific large molecular glycoprotein antigens (carbohydrate antigen, CA) and developed a monoclonal antibody recognition system. CA is a tumor cell-associated antigen. Commonly used CA series include: CA 125 (ovarian cancer-related antigen); CA 19-9 (pancreatic and intestinal cancer-related antigen); CA 15-3 (breast cancer-related antigen).

CA19-9 is a type of carbohydrate antigen. An increase in its level may indicate pancreatitis, cirrhosis, diabetes, or digestive tract tumors.

The calibration standard value of CA19-9 is between 0-40 (unit: kU/L).

Elevated levels of Glycan 19-9 are seen in:

1. Most pancreatic cancer patients have significantly elevated serum CA19-9 levels;

2. CA 19-9 levels will also increase in hepatobiliary cancer, gastric cancer, and colorectal cancer;

3. Increased low concentrations or transient increases can be seen in chronic pancreatitis, cholelithiasis, cirrhosis, renal insufficiency, diabetes, etc.

Clinical application of ca199

CA19-9 is a marker for pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, and colorectal cancer. The critical value for serum CA19-9 positivity is 37 kU/L.

1. 85%-95% of pancreatic cancer patients are positive. After tumor resection, CA19-9 concentration will decrease, and if it increases again, it may indicate recurrence.

2. The positive rates of colorectal cancer, gallbladder cancer, bile duct cancer, liver cancer and gastric cancer are also very high. If CEA and AFP are tested at the same time, the positive detection rate can be further improved.

3. In benign diseases such as pancreatitis and jaundice, CA19-9 concentration may also increase, but it is often "transient" and its concentration is mostly lower than 120kU/L, so it must be differentiated.

CA19-9 and CA72-4 are being evaluated for their significance for early detection of disease recurrence. Retrospective evaluation based on routine data in patients with colon cancer. They also considered the dependence of the results of these data analyses on defined groups of patients, without evidence of disease (NED) and with recurrent disease (RAD).
