What is canthal malignant melanoma

What is canthal melanoma?

1. Malignant melanoma accounts for 1% of malignant lesions of the eye, with an incidence slightly lower than that of malignant melanoma of the head and neck skin, which is 7%. It is rare in children and in most young people, and is slightly more common in women than in men. The occurrence of tumors is related to many factors. Risk factors for melanoma include congenital or developmentally abnormal moles, melasma, excessive sun exposure, family history, age, and race. Malignant melanoma of the eye canthus, partly evolved from hairless moles, often occurs in the inner and outer canthus and eyelids and is ignored, develops into a cauliflower mass, or the growth of papillae or nodules on the surface of the tumor, surrounded by satellite nodules, or bleeding for no reason, surface ulcers, eyelashes fall off, which are evidence of malignant changes, but in the vast majority of cases, before the brain, liver, and even almost all internal organs, the patient can die in a short time. Malignant melanomas that ulcerate are worse than non-ulcerate melanomas.

2. Through direct observation and ultrasound measurement, malignant melanomas can be divided into small, medium, and large tumors according to their diameter and height. Small tumors have a better prognosis, so they are usually not removed temporarily to observe their growth rate. Small and medium tumors often mimic the former, but whether this is the best policy of action remains controversial. Large malignant melanomas usually require early treatment, but if they do not significantly impair vision, they can also be observed for a period of time.
