Common knowledge about traditional treatments for kidney cancer

Most of the development of renal cancer is insidious, and symptoms do not appear until it develops to a relatively late stage. Traditional treatments mainly include surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, etc. Understanding the characteristics of various methods will help choose the most appropriate treatment method.

1. Although most of the cancerous changes can be removed from early-stage renal cancer patients and the cure rate is high, nearly 1/4 of the patients have already developed metastasis when they seek medical treatment, which increases the difficulty of treatment.

2. Surgery can cause damage to the patient's body tissues and loss of qi and blood, weakening the patient's physique and easily leading to cancer recurrence, spread and metastasis of cancer cells. The choice should be made based on the patient's physique.

3. Laparoscopic radical nephrectomy has little surgical trauma and quick recovery. It is the main method for treating early renal cancer and focal renal cancer. However, 20%-40% of patients still develop metastasis after nephrectomy.

4. Renal cancer is highly resistant to chemotherapy drugs and hormones, and its therapeutic effect is similar to that of placebo. Single-drug chemotherapy is rarely used clinically, and combined chemotherapy regimens are generally chosen.

5. Interleukin-2 can promote and regulate the immune function of lymphocytes and enhance its therapeutic effect on advanced renal cancer. However, long-term treatment has high toxicity and patients find it difficult to tolerate it and cannot adhere to long-term medication.

6. Renal cancer is also not sensitive to radiotherapy. It is currently only used as an auxiliary treatment method for patients with advanced renal cancer who cannot undergo surgical resection. Radiotherapy can reduce local pain, hematuria and relieve toxic symptoms.
