Early symptoms of thyroid cancer

Early symptoms of thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the thyroid gland. It mainly includes four pathological types: papillary carcinoma, follicular carcinoma, undifferentiated carcinoma, and medullary carcinoma. In the early stages of thyroid cancer, symptoms such as neck lumps, hoarseness, difficulty breathing, increased heart rate, and fatigue usually occur. It is recommended that when these symptoms occur, you should seek medical attention in a timely manner for relevant investigations. The specific introduction is as follows:

1. Neck lump: Early thyroid cancer, under the influence of carcinogenic factors, will increase the destruction of thyroid hormones. When the body lacks thyroid hormones, the secretion of thyroid-stimulating hormone increases, which in turn leads to the proliferation of thyroid follicular epithelial cells, causing thyroid enlargement and the formation of a neck lump.

2. Hoarseness: When thyroid cancer invades the recurrent laryngeal nerve, it can cause hoarseness.

3. Difficulty breathing: When thyroid cancer invades the trachea, it will cause difficulty breathing for the patient.

4. Increased heart rate: Some thyroid patients will experience high thyroid hormone levels in the early stages of the disease. This is mainly because thyroid cancer destroys thyroid cells during its growth, and the destroyed thyroid cells release thyroid hormone.

5. Physical fatigue: Since thyroid cancer is a destructive growth, patients with thyroid cancer may experience symptoms of hypothyroidism, at which time patients will experience symptoms of physical fatigue.

Treatments for thyroid cancer include surgical resection, radiotherapy, and drug therapy. Surgery is the main treatment for thyroid cancer, including thyroidectomy and lymph node dissection. Radiotherapy is mainly used to control tumor recurrence and metastasis, while drug therapy is mainly used for adjuvant treatment and symptom relief. For the prevention of thyroid cancer, it is recommended to maintain good living habits, avoid excessive fatigue and negative emotions, pay attention to dietary hygiene, and have regular physical examinations.
