Is it serious if thyroid cancer does not cause pain or itching?

Thyroid cancer patients do not feel pain or itching. Whether the condition is serious usually needs to be analyzed based on the specific situation. It is recommended that thyroid cancer patients go to the hospital for treatment in time, complete relevant examinations, such as neck ultrasound, pathological examination, etc., and carry out corresponding treatment after the cause is determined.

1. Not serious:

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor of the thyroid follicular epithelium. The more common types are papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer, and anaplastic thyroid cancer. Generally speaking, patients with early thyroid cancer may not experience obvious subjective symptoms. If the patient's condition is relatively mild, the tumor is relatively small, and the pressure on surrounding tissues is relatively light, there may be no symptoms of pain or itching. At this time, after active surgical treatment, postoperative radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, the patient can usually achieve the goal of cure, so it is generally not serious.

2. Severe:

1. Cervical lymph node metastasis: If the patient has cervical lymph node metastasis and the tumor volume increases, it may compress the trachea or esophagus, causing the patient to have symptoms such as difficulty breathing and swallowing. At this time, if the thyroid cancer patient does not feel pain or itching, it is more serious;

2. Distant metastasis: If thyroid cancer patients have distant metastasis, such as lung metastasis, liver metastasis, etc., if they are not treated in time, it may endanger the patient's life. Therefore, if thyroid cancer patients do not feel pain or itching at this time, it is more serious.

3. Other situations: If the thyroid cancer patient has undifferentiated cancer, the malignancy is relatively high and the treatment effect is relatively poor. Bone metastasis, brain metastasis, meningeal metastasis, etc. may occur. At this time, if the thyroid cancer patient does not feel pain or itching, it is more serious.
