What to do if thyroid cancer is diagnosed

If a patient is found to have thyroid cancer during an examination, he or she needs to choose the appropriate treatment method based on the severity of the disease. If it is early-stage thyroid cancer, it can be treated with surgery, or it can be improved through radioactive iodine-131 treatment, targeted drug therapy, etc.

1. Surgical treatment

For patients with early thyroid cancer, since the tumor is relatively small and has not spread, they can go to a regular hospital in time and receive treatment through surgical methods such as total thyroidectomy under the guidance of a doctor. This can effectively remove the lesions and achieve the goal of cure.

2. Radioactive iodine-131 therapy

Radioactive iodine-131 therapy is a method of using radiation to kill cancer cells. After iodine-131 is injected into the body, it will accumulate in the thyroid tissue and then release rays to destroy the thyroid follicular epithelial cells, thereby causing hypothyroidism and achieving a therapeutic effect.

Targeted drug therapy

Targeted drug therapy refers to the use of drugs that target specific molecular targets in the growth signaling pathways of tumor cells, allowing the drugs to act precisely at the site of the lesion, inhibiting the proliferation and metastasis of cancer cells, thereby prolonging the patient's survival time.

Patients are advised to maintain a good attitude in their daily lives, avoid excessive stress, and pay attention to rest and avoid staying up late to avoid aggravating the condition. Eat light and easily digestible foods, such as millet porridge and pumpkin porridge, and eat less spicy, irritating and greasy foods, such as peppers and fried chicken. If obvious discomfort or abnormalities occur during the period, you need to seek medical treatment in time to avoid delaying the condition.
