How to treat thyroid cancer without surgery

How to treat thyroid cancer without surgery

Thyroid cancer does not require surgery, but can be treated under the guidance of a doctor through chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted drug therapy, etc. If a patient is diagnosed with thyroid cancer, surgical resection should be performed as soon as possible.

1. Chemotherapy: Patients with thyroid cancer who do not undergo surgery need to undergo surgery first. After surgery, they need to determine whether radiotherapy is needed based on pathology. If the pathology result is positive, radiotherapy is usually required.

2. Radiotherapy: If thyroid cancer is confirmed after surgery and has not metastasized to other parts of the body, radiotherapy is generally required to kill cancer cells and inhibit the development of cancer;

3. Immunotherapy: Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor of the immune system, which has a certain destructive ability to the human body. Not undergoing surgery may reduce the patient's body resistance. Drugs can be used to improve the patient's immunity. Commonly used drugs include BCG injection and recombinant human interferon α1b.

4. Targeted drug therapy: Thyroid cancer can be treated with targeted drugs under the guidance of doctors without surgery, such as sorafenib tosylate tablets, lenvatinib mesylate capsules, etc., which can increase the sensitivity of patients to targeted drugs and thus improve the effect of drug treatment.

In addition to the above situations, if the patient is in poor physical condition and cannot tolerate surgery, conservative treatment can also be adopted, which requires chemotherapy or radiotherapy under the guidance of a doctor. It is recommended that patients with thyroid cancer who do not undergo surgery maintain a good attitude and actively receive treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
