Knee sprain and swelling

Knee sprain and swelling

The knee area of the human body is very critical because people need support from the knee when walking. But if an accident happens and the knee is injured, it will definitely affect people's overall movements. So what needs to be noted is that people should protect their bodies to avoid accidental injuries when walking or doing other things. But what should you do if your knee is sprained, swollen and painful?

If the knee is sprained, it is mainly due to edema and congestion of the synovial membrane in the joint, so it is an aseptic inflammation, not a general inflammation. Therefore, anti-inflammatory drugs are not required, but are needed. It is not recommended to continue taking anti-inflammatory drugs. If you do take them, you can choose a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as Fenbid, Indomethacin, or Celebrex (decided by the prescribing doctor based on personal circumstances). At present, you can wear a knee brace and do some non-weight-bearing joint function exercises to see how it goes, and then gradually start exercising, combined with some hot compresses and physical therapy. But it is best to do an MRI to see if there are any problems with the meniscus, ligaments, etc.

Rest for a month and avoid strenuous exercise. However, you should do appropriate functional exercises for your feet to avoid ligament adhesion, which would prevent you from being able to move your joints. Now you have to endure the pain and move your joints. As long as you can persist in doing functional exercises every day, your joints will recover well in the future. You can get some Chinese medicine, both externally and internally, which is very effective in improving pain and promoting ligament healing. Apply hot compress at night and massage the painful area more when you are free to speed up blood circulation there. These are all helpful.

The knee joint is the largest and most complex joint in the body, and its main functions are weight-bearing and flexion and extension. Its stability and flexion and extension movements rely on the support and regulation of the strong joint capsule, medial and lateral collateral ligaments, cruciate ligaments and medial and lateral semimeniscus cartilages. After a knee sprain, the first thing to do is to check whether the meniscus or ligament is damaged. If there is no injury, just apply local hot compress and take oral painkillers. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a check-up.
