What are the symptoms of liver cancer? Several common clinical manifestations of liver cancer patients

What are the symptoms of liver cancer? If you want to detect liver cancer in time, you must know what symptoms there are. Different cancers have different symptoms, so you must learn to distinguish them. Today, I will introduce to you what the symptoms of liver cancer are. Let's take a look.

Common knowledge about liver cancer

Surgery is still the first choice for early treatment of liver cancer. The smaller the tumor and the earlier it is discovered, the higher the 5-year survival rate. However, during surgical treatment, attention should be paid to coordinating with Chinese medicine. Most patients with advanced liver cancer cannot withstand surgical treatment due to various factors such as physical condition and spread of cancer. For such patients, conservative treatment is often adopted clinically.

For localized liver cancer, liver resection is the first choice when the tumor has not yet metastasized and is not accompanied by cirrhosis; the chance of surgical resection of early liver cancer is greater, the efficacy is better, and the survival time is longer; for mid-to-late stage liver cancer, especially giant liver cancer or multiple cancer lesions, the radical resection rate is lower and the prognosis is poor. Current liver resections include irregular liver resection and precise liver resection. Precision liver resection is a liver resection with minimal liver damage and maximum liver protection. Compared with irregular liver resection for liver cancer, it has fewer complications and better efficacy. With the popularization of laparoscopic minimally invasive technology, laparoscopic liver resection has also been gradually carried out in clinical practice. This technology has the advantages of less trauma, less blood loss and low surgical mortality rate.

Next, let’s take a look at the symptoms of liver cancer.

Symptoms of liver cancer

Pain in the liver area. The majority of liver cancer patients have pain in the liver area as the first symptom, with an incidence rate of more than 50%. Pain in the liver area is generally located in the right ribs or under the xiphoid process, and the pain is intermittent or continuous. It is dull or stabbing. Before the pain, the patient may feel discomfort in the right upper abdomen. The pain may be mild or severe or relieve itself in the short term.

Long-term weight loss and fatigue. This symptom is often seen in the middle and late stages of liver cancer. It may be due to the metabolites of the tumor causing biochemical changes in the body. At the same time, there will be a decrease in food intake, and in severe cases, cachexia will occur.

Fever. Patients with advanced liver cancer often have fever, and a considerable number of liver cancer patients will sweat and have fever. Most fevers are low to moderate, and a few patients may have high fevers, above 39°C, generally not accompanied by chills. The fever of liver cancer is mostly cancer fever. In addition, there are also symptoms of weight loss, fatigue, bleeding tendency, lower limb edema, acute abdomen, and related metastatic lesions.

Lower limb edema. Patients with liver cancer and ascites often have lower limb edema, which can occur at the ankles in mild cases or spread to the entire lower limbs in severe cases. The main cause of lower limb edema is ascites compressing the lower limb veins or cancer thrombus blocking them, which obstructs venous return.
