Will double eyelid surgery affect eyesight?

Double eyelid surgery may affect your vision, mainly because the eyes will be swollen and congested when the double eyelids are cut. If the doctor's skills are not very good, the eyeball may be injured, and there will be blurred vision for a short time after the operation. However, vision can usually be restored after the swelling subsides. If vision does not recover, you should correct it in time.

Double eyelid surgery will not affect your vision

Experts say that since double eyelid and eye bag removal surgeries are both extraocular surgeries and do not harm the eyeball, they generally do not affect vision. The only difference is that sometimes there will be swelling, irritation, photophobia, tearing, and short-term blurred vision after the operation, but as the swelling subsides, everything will quickly return to normal.

Double eyelid surgery is suitable for the following people:

1. Patients with single eyelid, incomplete double eyelid or loose upper eyelid skin who actively request surgery.

2. Adolescent females with thin eyelids and no puffy eyes can choose the buried suture method; other age groups can use the incision method and remove part of the skin and orbital fat as appropriate.

3. Epicanthoplasty can be repaired at the same time. Patients with myopia and mild exophthalmos should choose buried suture blepharoplasty and be cautious when doing incisional blepharoplasty.

4. People who are born with single eyelids and want to have double eyelids.

The harmful symptoms and treatment methods after failed double eyelid surgery:

1. Mild hematoma may disappear on its own, but severe hematoma or progressive hematoma requires opening an incision to stop bleeding or drain.

2. After the eyelid tissue is traumatized by surgery, reactive edema will occur between cells. Eyelid edema is normal and there is no need to worry. Pressure bandages and cold compresses can help alleviate the above phenomenon, but if the swelling is severe and continues to progress, you should have a check-up in time.

3. Although the incision and tissue wound have been sutured, there is still a small amount of bleeding. You can use cold compresses (ice cubes, cool towels), pressure bandages with elastic bandages, etc. At the same time, be careful not to lower your head excessively, and do not open or close your eyes forcefully.

4. If the scars are significantly caused by infection or physical condition, local medications such as steroid injections may be used.

5. If redness, swelling, heat and pain appear on the upper eyelid, infection should be considered and effective antibiotics should be used.
