The dangers of delaying treatment of thyroid cancer

What are the dangers of thyroid cancer being delayed for a long time? There are many types of thyroid cancer, but no matter which type of thyroid cancer it is, it will cause great harm to the patient, and this harm can only be reduced with timely and correct treatment. So what are the dangers of thyroid cancer being delayed for a long time?

Dangers if not treated promptly:

(1) Because benign thyroid tumors have no obvious symptoms: no itching, no pain, and no impact on speaking, eating, sleeping, working and studying, over a long course of the disease, both Qi and Yin are damaged, and eventually Yin and Yang damage each other, making it a difficult disease to treat and even life-threatening.

(2) Malignant thyroid tumors are thyroid cancers. Most of them are low- or medium-grade malignancies, and the survival rate of patients after the disease is relatively high (the average 5-year survival rate after surgery is 95%). However, a small number of patients are highly malignant (i.e., undifferentiated cancer), which is seriously life-threatening. Therefore, they should be taken seriously and treated in a timely manner.

(3) Thyroid tumors can be benign or malignant. Benign thyroid tumors are not serious in themselves, and generally do not cause obvious symptoms when the tumor is small. However, if not treated in time, the tumor will grow larger. Some patients with large tumors may experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, and hoarseness due to the compression of the trachea, esophagus, and recurrent laryngeal nerve by the tumor. In addition, benign thyroid tumors have a 20% rate of malignant transformation. Therefore, they should be treated as soon as possible after discovery.

The occurrence of thyroid cancer brings great physical and mental distress to patients. Many people have lost their precious lives because of lack of timely treatment. Understanding the treatment methods of thyroid cancer can help you choose the appropriate treatment and get rid of the disease as soon as possible.
