The role and efficacy of digestive enzymes

Digestive enzymes can promote digestion and also effectively break down food. Digestive enzymes usually include amylase, lipase, protease, etc. Protease can effectively help break down protein and also assist liver metabolism. Amylase can generally help break down carbohydrates in saliva, while lipase can effectively break down fat and prevent the increase of cholesterol. However, as we age, the digestive enzymes in our body decrease and need to be replenished in a timely manner.

When people eat, the food is digested and then excreted from the body. During the digestion process, many enzymatic substances are produced. Due to the different properties of the enzymes, the functions and effects they play are different. If the digestive enzyme in the body is abnormal after a meal, it will affect the normal digestion and food will often stay in the intestines, which will cause constipation and affect the body's normal excretion. Therefore, the body needs digestive enzymes to break down food in the body. If there is a lack of digestive enzymes, the patient may experience nausea and diarrhea, and in severe cases, it may cause cirrhosis of the liver.

As we age, the digestive enzymes in our body will gradually decrease, and we need to take vitamin medications orally under the guidance of a doctor, which can have a supplementary therapeutic effect. In daily life, we should pay attention to balanced nutrition. It is best to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, which can increase intestinal motility.
