Ultrasonic colonoscopy is based on echo judgment. It is relatively more accurate than direct colonoscopy. Ultrasound is relatively non-invasive and not so uncomfortable. Ultrasonic colonoscopy can see whether there are lesions in the intestinal wall, and can also see lesions outside the intestinal cavity through the intestinal wall. Ordinary colonoscopy can only observe whether there are problems in the intestinal cavity, but cannot see between or outside the intestinal wall.

Ultrasonic colonoscope has the functions of ordinary colonoscope and ultrasound. The tip of the instrument is equipped with a conversion device and can rotate 360°. It can not only observe the layers of invasion of colon tumors, but also determine whether there is lymph node metastasis. These are of great significance for preoperative diagnosis, selection of surgical plans, and prognosis. In recent years, there have been increasing reports on clinical endoscopic ultrasound examination. It is known that the colorectum can show 5 (9 under high-frequency probe) different echoes under ultrasound, and colorectal cancer appears as a mixed image with different echoes under ultrasound, which can sometimes be used for the early diagnosis of colorectal cancer and can distinguish whether the early cancer is located in the mucosa or submucosal layer. Endoscopic ultrasound is used for Dukes or T, N staging of colorectal cancer, especially for rectal cancer. The accuracy of T staging is 80%-90%, and that of N staging is 59.9%-70%. The micro-ultrasound probe can be delivered to various parts of the colon through the biopsy hole of the endoscope without the need for a conventional endoscopic examination first. However, its disadvantages are that the exploration range is small, and the image quality, penetration ability and durability of the instrument have not yet reached the ideal requirements.

Regular colonoscopy:

The patient is awake when the colonoscopy is performed by an endoscopist, who generally only uses local anesthetics or lubricants on the surface of the endoscope. Since there are several fixed physiological bends in the colon, the fiber colonoscope will inevitably be entangled when passing through the entire colon, and the colon needs to be inflated during the operation, which will cause a feeling of abdominal distension. In fact, the pain during the operation is not as severe as imagined, and most patients can tolerate the feeling of bloating. Since mental stress can cause intestinal spasms, relaxation and proper venting during endoscopic examination are beneficial to endoscopic operation.

advantage:

1. Short appointment time. The average appointment time for ordinary colonoscopy is about 3 days shorter than that for painless colonoscopy.

2. It is convenient to see a doctor, and can be carried out in primary hospitals;

3. If you feel any discomfort during the operation, you can communicate with the endoscopist in time to reduce the risk of intestinal perforation.

Disadvantages: Some patients cannot tolerate it, resulting in the inability to complete the examination.
